FAQs

Quarterback Frank Tarkenton is considered as the best Minnesota Vikings player of all time. Tankerton became the starting quarterback for the Vikings in his rookie season and began a career that has put him in the VIkings history books. He led the VIkings to 6 NFC Central division titles. He has even won an NFL Offensive player of the year award in 1975 along with an NFL MVP award.

The Minnesota Vikings home stadium is the U.S. Bank Stadium located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The stadium is built on the site of the former VIkings stadium called the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. It was the first fixed-roof stadium built in the NFL since Ford Field in Detroit, which opened in 2002.

The Vikings were formed as an expansion team in the NFL in 1960. As a nod to Minnesota's significant Scandinavian American history, they are named for the Vikings of medieval Scandinavia.

The Minnesota Vikings have an iconic helmet which has remained unchanged since its inception. From Fran Tarkenton in 1961 to Everson Griffen in 2016, every Vikings player has donned the famous horned helmets. The horned helmets are a nod to the culture of the Scandinavian Viking heritage in Minnesota along with portraying the wildness of the team in a berserk mood.
