IPL Most Runs
The record for most IPL runs belongs to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli who has scored 7,263 runs in 237 matches and is 646 runs ahead of the Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan has made 6,617 runs in 216 matches.
Best Individual Score
The best individual score in IPL history is also the highest individual score in T20 cricket. Chris Gayle scored 175 not out against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Best Batting Averages
Vivrant Sharma has the best batting average of 69.00 in the IPL. He played just one innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and scored 69 runs in that game. For batters with minimum 1000 runs or 50 matches, Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) captain KL Rahul has the best batting average of 46.77 scoring 4,163 runs in 109 innings.
Best Strike Rates
Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-rounder Andre Russell has a batting strike rate of 174.00,, the best in the IPL. He has scored 2,262 runs at that rate in 96 innings. He is in superb form of late as well and will be looking to have an entertaining show once again. Among Indian players, Virender Sehwag has the best strike rate of 155.44, scoring 2,728 runs in 104 innings.
Most Hundreds
The record for smashing the most IPL hundred is held by none other than Virat Kohli. The RCB superstar has racked up seven hundreds, four of which came during IPL 2016 only.
Most Fifties
David Warner has 61 half-centuries in the IPL in 176 matches. On second spot is Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan, hammering 50 fifties each.
Most Sixes
Former PBKS and RCB batter Chris Gayle is way ahead of all other batters in the IPL with 357 sixes, 100 more than the second-best Rohit Sharma (257).
Most Fours
David Warner is narrowly ahead in this list of batters with most fours. The Australian has hit 646 fours thus far. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, has clobbered 643 boundaries for RCB.
Most runs in a single IPL edition
Virat Kohli mustered 973 runs at an average of 81.08 during IPL 2016. This is the most any batter has scored in a single IPL season. Shubman Gill came close to this record in IPL 2023, where he hammered 890 runs for GT.
IPL Stats - Bowling
Most Wickets
Yuzvendra Chahal leads the IPL Stats when it comes to the bowling department. The Rajasthan Royals player has taken 187 wickets at an average of 21.68 in 144 innings.
Most 5-wicket Hauls
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (both for SRH) Jaydev Unadkat (one for Rising Pune Supergiant and one for RCB) and James Faulkner (both for RR) have taken two five-wicket hauls each.
Best Economies
The IPL statistics for best economies (minimum 100 overs bowled) is held by former India and RCB captain Anil Kumble. Kumble took 45 wickets at an economy rate of 6.57 after 160.5 overs.
Best bowling figures in an innings
Alzarri Joseph claimed superb figures of 6/12 against SRH in IPL 2019. This remains the best bowling spell in an IPL innings. Among Indians, Anil Kumble (vs RR) and Akash Madhwal’s (vs LSG) 5/5 is the best spell in IPL history.
Most wickets in a single IPL edition
The stat for taking the most wickets in a single IPL edition is held by two pacers in Dwayne Bravo and Harshal Patel. Both bowlers took 32 wickets each. While Bravo bagged his wickets for CSK in 2013, Harshal claimed his 32 wickets for RCB in IPL 2021.

Most dismissals
MS Dhoni has inflicted the most dismissals in IPL history. His wicket-keeping has earned 180 dismissals in IPL history.
Most dismissals in an IPL innings
Kumar Sangakkara inflicted five dismissals from behind the stumps in an IPL game against RCB, the most by any wicket-keeper in a single IPL innings.
IPL Stats - Fielding
Most catches
Suresh Raina bagged 109 catches during his 205-match long IPL career, which is the most by any outfielder. Virat Kohli is likely to surpass Raina in IPL 2024. Kohli has so far taken 106 catches in 235 IPL innings.
Most catches in an IPL innings
Mohammad Nabi bagged five catches against Mumbai Indians in an IPL game in 2021. This stat of holding to most catches in an IPL innings remains with Nabi, who will play for MI in IPL 2024.
