Team India captain Rohit Sharma had a light-hearted interaction with a fan during the ongoing Test against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Rohit cheekily asked the fan which Indian Premier League franchise he should join for the 2025 season, to which he replied RCB.

Rohit has been part of the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL since the 2011 season. In fact, from 2013 to 2023, he was the captain of the side and led them to as many as five titles. The Hitman was, however, removed as captain ahead of IPL 2024 and was replaced by Hardik Pandya. MI, though, endured a disastrous season, finishing last in the points table.

Over the last few weeks, many unconfirmed reports have been doing the rounds, claiming that Rohit could quit the MI franchise. On Saturday, October 19, a video went viral on social media in which the Indian captain is seen having a fun chat with a fan while walking off the field. The conversation went as follows.

Fan: Bhai, IPL mein kaunsa team? (Brother, which team in the IPL?)

Rohit: Kaunsa chahiye bol? (Which one? You tell me)

Fan: Bhai, RCB mein aa jao yaar (Come to RCB, brother)

The Indian captain, though, didn't carry the conversation forward and walked away. Incidentally, some recent media reports have claimed that Mumbai Indians are likely to retain Rohit ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.

The 37-year-old is the all-time leading run-getter for the Mumbai franchise. In 221 matches, he has smashed 5,731 runs at an average of 29.69 and a strike rate of 131.05, with two hundreds and 36 half-centuries.

Ravichandran Ashwin not convinced about possibility of Rohit Sharma moving to RCB for IPL 2025

Many fans have expressed their wish of wanting Rohit to play for RCB in IPL 2025 as the Hitman and Virat Kohli would then be part of the same team.

However, senior Team India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin doesn't see that as a strong possibility. While interacting with a fan on his YouTube channel, the 38-year-old said:

"Agar Rohit Sharma ke liye aap jaa rahe hai to 20 crore rakhna padega. 20 crore udhar gayab ho gaya. (You need to keep 20 crore with yourself if you want to sign up Rohit Sharma. 20 crore has disappeared there.)"

Before Ashwin, former RCB cricketer AB de Villiers had also dismissed the chances of Rohit moving to the Bengaluru franchise for IPL 2025.
