In a format like ODIs and that too when a team plays in a World Cup, the game often slows down in the middle overs. This has been particularly observed in the subcontinent when the spinners are brought into the act.
In such situations, a genuine power-hitter can take the attack against the opposition with calculative risks.
Rules for highest strike rate in World Cup 2023
The highest strike rate is determined by how quickly a player can score runs by playing less deliveries. Not to be confused with the most runs in an innings or the whole event as here the impact of the batter is considered.
A strike rate of a batter is calculated as the number of runs scored divided by the number of balls he/she has played and the outcome should be divided by 100.
If a batter scores six runs of one ball then his strike rate will be 600. For run-a-ball the batter will end up with the strike rate of 100. For instance someone scores 50 runs in 22 balls then his strike rate is 227.27 (50/22 × 100).
The player with the highest strike rate in all matches, including the knockouts, of the World Cup will lead the charts. Even if a player has the best strike rate after playing only one innings then the ones who have played nine games, the former will be on the top.
