Tony D'Angelo (birth name: Joseph Arriola) was born on 9th June 1995 in Oak Park, Illinois, United States. He is an American professional grappler endorsed by WWE, as of 2024. He is performing on the NXT brand as of October 2024. The former one-half of the NXT Tag Team Title is the D'Angelo Family's leader and also held the NXT Heritage Cup. Tony is holding the NXt North American Title for the first time in his career.

Early Life

Tony was a collegiate wrestler before making it to the WWE and competed for the University of Buffalo. He graduated college in 2018.


Professional Wrestling Career

Tony made his WWE debut under the ring name Tony D'Angelo with the heel trick of an Italian-American mobster on the 5th October 2021 episode of NXT. He beat Malik Edge in the opening minutes of his debut match. D'Angelo, Carmelo Hayes, Bron Breakker, and Grayson Waller beat LA Knight, Pete Dunne, Johnny Gargano, and Tommaso Ciampa (Group Black and Gold) on 5th December at NXT WarGames.


After a progression of triumphs against Dexter Lumis, Ru Feng, and Andre Pursue D'Angelo experienced his first-ever defeat on the 21st December episode of NXT 2.0 against Dunne. Then he fiercely went after Dunne himself with a crowbar. Because of the conflict that followed, D'Angelo beat Dunne on the 11th January 2022 episode of NXT 2.0 in a Crowbar On a Pole match. D'Angelo lost to Cameron Grimes because of impedance from Dunne On the January 25 episode of NXT 2.0. Tony then challenged Dunne for the NXT North American Title. D'Angelo lost to Dunne in a Weaponized Steel Cage match on the February 15 episode of NXT Vengeance Day. D'Angelo beat Tommaso Ciampa on 2nd April at NXT Stand and Deliver. After his triumph against Ciampa, he referred to himself as "The Don of NXT".


On 4th June D'Angelo and his cohorts Troy "Two Dimes" Donovan and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo defeated Legado del Fantasma at NXT In Your House. According to the agreement, the latter group was bound to join the D'Angelo Family. D'Angelo was beaten via Carmelo Hayes on the 21st June episode of NXT 2.0. He missed an amazing chance to catch the NXT North American Title because of the interference of Santos Escobar. D'Angelo and Lorenzo confronted The Creed Brothers for the NXT Label Group Title on the 2nd August episode of NXT 2.0 however, were defeated because of Escobar's impedance. D'Angelo beat Escobar in a street fight in a special episode of NXT Heatwave on the 16th of August. According to the agreement, Legado del Fantasma needed to stay connected to the D'Angelo Family. But Escobar left the NXT afterward.


D'Angelo confronted Wes Lee on the 27th September episode of NXT to become eligible for a ladder match for the empty NXT North American Title at NXT Halloween Havoc. He faced defeat due to the decision of the match referee. D'Angelo then confronted Wes Lee for the NXT North American Title on the 27th December episode of NXT. However, he lost the match because of obstruction from Dijak. D'Angelo turned face on 10th January 2023 and provoked Dijak to a match at NXT: New Year's Malevolent. He eventually lost the match against Dijak. Stacks and D'Angelo made an unsuccessful attempt to come out on top in a triple-threat match for the NXT Tag Team Title. The D'Angelo Family had a short altercation with Pretty Deadly and lost to them on the April 4 episode of NXT. However, The D'Angelo Family beat them at NXT Spring Breakin' in a trunk match three weeks after the fact. Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and D'Angelo defeated Gallus to come out on top for the NXT Tag Team Title at NXT: The Great American Bash.


D'Angelo and Stacks were defeated by Chase University for the title, after 86 days. They went on to win the title again by defeating Chase and Hudson. They held the title for 91 days before getting defeated by Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin. D'Angelo beat Carmelo Hayes to earn a title shot at the NXT Championship but failed to clinch the title from Ilja Dragunov. He beat Charlie Dempsey to win the NXT Heritage Cup in a British Rounds Rules match. This win denoted the first singles championship in his career, however, he lost the cup to Dempsey after 90 days. Following his title win, D'Angelo broke Oba Femi's 273-day reign as a North American Champion. This also marked D'Angelo as the first individual to win the North American Title, Heritage Cup, and Tag Team Title at NXT.
