Darshan Nalkande

Indian cricketer Darshan Nalkande was born on the 4th of October 1998. He is a right-arm medium fast pacer and bats right-handed. On 2 October 2018, he made his List A debut for Vidarbha in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for 2018–19. He made his Vidarbha first-class debut in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy. He made his IPL debut for GT against the Punjab Kings in April 2022.

Indian cricketer Darshan Nalkande was born on 4 October 1998. Darshan Nalkande, an Indian Premier League right-arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed batsman for the Gujarat Titans, was born in Wardha, Maharashtra. He has played for Gujarat Titans, Vidarbha, Punjab Kings, and India U19.

Darshan Nalkande Domestic Career

Darshan Nalkande has played only a handful of games in domestic cricket having just broken into first-class cricket with the former Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha. His first good season came in the Cooch Behar Trophy in 2016-17 where he hit a brilliant hundred against Baroda. Nalkande averaged 47.17 with the bat and hit three fifties. He also hit 13 sixes. The breakthrough season came in 2016-17 when he played his part as bowler to help Vidarbha win their maiden Cooch Behar title. Nalkande picked up 31 wickets at 19.58 with three five-wicket hauls. In the same season, he did well with the bat in the Under-23 category. His 48-ball 67 helped Vidarbha record an innings victory against Baroda in the quarter-final and gave them their maiden Under-23 semi-final berth.

He was picked in the India U-19 team for the youth Asia cup and also made it to the probables of the World Cup squad, but couldn't make the cut into the final squad. Nalkande showed his might both with bat and ball in the U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy which brought him into the limelight. As a result, he was selected for Vijay Hazare Trophy where he made an instant impact on his debut. Darshan scored an unbeaten 56 from just 30 balls to take Vidarbha to an improbable victory over Maharashtra, even though he is known more for his skills with the ball. He made his Twenty20 debut for Vidarbha in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 21 February 2019.

Despite not playing a lot of games in the domestic circuit, Darshan was deemed good enough by Kings XI Punjab as the franchise snapped him up at the 2018 player auctions for a salary of INR 30 lakhs. His allround capabilities caught the eye of Kings XI Punjab high performance coach Prasanna Agoram before the auctions.He did not play any games in 2019 season but was retained by KXIP ahead of the 2020 IPL auction.

Nalkande had minimal on-field appearances during his early IPL stints with the Punjab Kings, when he was a part of the team from 2019 to 2021. But the Gujarat Titans saw his potential and signed him for the 2024 Indian Premier League.

In his six IPL games thus far, Darshan Nalkande has picked up six wickets at an average of 24.67 and his best individual performance of 2/21.

At 13, Nalkande was picked by former Vidarbha skipper Preetam Gandhe for VCA's academy. When he broke into the Vidarbha U-16 side, Nalknade surprised many with his pace. Darshan rose to fame and garnered attention during the Cooch Behar Trophy in 2016–17, when he performed for Vidarbha and smashed a memorable century against Baroda.

The young player was selected for the 2018 Youth Asia Cup U19 team and was included to the probable World Cup squad. However, he was left out of India's final team, which went on to win under Prithvi Shaw's leadership.
