The Bill Belichick era for the Patriots is finally over after spanning more than two decades. Patriots have now moved into a full rebuild mode after parting ways with Bill Belichick and naming Jared Mayo as the team’s new head coach. New England has not won a single playoff game since their last SB run in 2018. The sad truth for Patriots fans is that there is no sign of breaking this trend for at least a couple more years.
The Patriots after all the speculation of moving down in the 2024 NFL draft, stayed put and took Drake Maye with the third overall pick. They finished dead last in the AFC East last year and it doesn’t look to get any better this year. The Patriots also signed Jacoby Brissett in free agency which gives them leverage to redshirt Maye if he is not ready this year.
Regardless of the New England Patriots schedule, they are likely to struggle this year due to a roster which is devoid of high end talent.
New England Patriots Key Games 2024-25
All indications from experts suggest that New England will start the season with Brissett. The main priority for the Patriots this season will be to put their rookie QB in a favorable situation and give him some live NFL reps.
So, no matter how you look at it, key games for the New England Patriots would include Drake Maye in it. There is a soft cushion in the New England Patriots schedule where Jared Mayo can put the rookie under center. New England is tied for the eigth hardest schedule in the league, as per analysts, which means Drake Maye will not see the field until the later part of the season.
Week 13 - December 1, 2024 - New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts
This is the first game in the New England Patriots schedule which can see the most awaited debut of Maye at Foxborough. Colts defense was middle of the pack to below average in 2023, which not only makes it a winnable game but can also see Maye get his feet wet at home.
Week 15 - December 15, 2024 - Minnesota Vikings @ Arizona Cardinals
This game has the potential for Maye to officially make his full-game debut. The Patriots have a very late BYE in week 14. That means preparing for two full weeks against an Arizona team that finished the last season as poorly as the Patriots. Kyler Murray would be 100% healthy this season but the Cardinals are far from a playoff team. This would give the Patriots coaching staff and Drake Maye some confidence when they line up opposite them.
Week 18 - January 5, 2025 - New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills
There is a chance Bills might rest most of their starters for this game if they have clinched the division or top seed in the playoffs. This gives Jared Mayo the perfect opportunity to take the training wheels off the rookie signal caller and give the home crowd a taste of Maye magic.

The New England Patriots play all their home games at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. This has been their home since 2002. They have previously played in Foxboro Stadium, Alumni Stadium, Harvard Stadium, and a couple more.

Most of the games on the New England Patriots football schedule will be covered by the CBS broadcasting network with other games spread out on various networks such as ESPN, FOX, ABC and NBC. They have only one primetime game. They will face New York Jets in TNF which will be broadcasted on Prime Video.
