Fans on social media slammed NASCAR after a delay in the penalty report for the Cook Out 400 race at Richmond on Sunday, August 11. The governing body generally passes its verdict on Tuesdays. However, there has been an unusual delay this time around, leading to fans calling NASCAR out online.

Multiple incidents took place in the recently concluded race at Richmond Raceway. From Austin Dillon nudging Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin to Logano's post-race ordeal in the pit road, there were many.

Fans and experts expected NASCAR to release their verdict on Dillon's actions by Tuesday. However, they were taken aback after the governing body delayed the penalty report to Wednesday.

NASCAR's early cognizance of Logano's risky mini burnout in front of the RCR garage was also deemed as a punishable offense. NASCAR was expected to put their verdict out on this as well. In a nutshell, fans are disappointed with the delay.

Sportsnaut journalist Matt Weaver tweeted about the delay, writing:

"There will not be a NASCAR penalty report today."

Below are a few reactions taken from X (formerly Twitter):

"That’s more annoying than the sh*t AD did lol," a fan reacted to the NASCAR update.
"Because there isn’t gonna be a penalty pop pop paying them off," another fan speculated internal interference.
"Money is changing hands," a third fan alleged.
"Man what the h*ll. Nascar should fine themselves what is taking so long," a fan suggested.
"Only way to keep nascar news trending for another day," wrote another fan.
"Because they are scared and trying to figure out how to pull off not penalizing RC and his grandchild," another user alleged the involvement of Richard Childress, owner of Richard Childress Racing.

Amid Austin Dillon's jubilation following his Richmond win, NASCAR can reduce the fun by imposing a penalty on the RCR driver. As per Elton Sawyer, the Vice President of Competitions of NASCAR, they will share their verdict in due time.

"Out sport has been a contact sport for a long time. We always hear, 'Where's the line?' and 'Did someone cross the line?' I would say that the last lap, it was awful close to the line," Sawyer said (via Fox News).
"We'll take a look at all the available resources from audio to video, we'll listen to the spotter, we'll listen to crew chiefs and drivers, and if anything rises to a level that we feel like we need to penalize, then we'll do that on Tuesday," he added.

While the penalty precedent does not allow the victory to be taken off, Austin Dillon can expect a monetary penalty.
