Every now and then, the Fortnite community gets early information about certain items/weapons/cosmetic items via leakers/data-miners. While not everything leaked is added to the game immediately, they give the community a good idea as to what can be expected in the coming days/weeks/months. This not only builds hype, but also gives players something to look forward to every now and then.
Aside from creating hype, it also gives content creators an idea as to what will be added to the game in the future. Based on this information, they can create a timeline for their videos. All in all, knowing what content is upcoming plays a major role in keeping the game relevant and helps create hype/buzz on social media channels.
Although Epic Games has some reservations about leaks, the developers have come to an agreement with leakers/data-miners. That being said, there are a few limitations that have been put in place for certain things such as live events or major seasonal leaks.
Upcoming Skins
Skins play a major role in Fortnite. They are to a large extent the lifeblood for Epic Games. They are sold in the Item Shop and are a major source of revenue. They come in different rarities and are priced accordingly. Some are exclusive and limited to a certain season, while others rotate in and out of the Item Shop every now and then.
Aside from being showcased in the Item Shop, some Skins are even featured in the Seasonal Battle Pass. They can be obtained by using Battle Stars to unlock them provided players reach the prerequisite level needed to obtain them. However, once the season ends, they are vaulted. When this occurs, there is no way to obtain them in the future.
While Skins may play an important role in Fortnite, in terms of gameplay, they play no major role. That said, some Skins are more intimidating than others and are often used by sweaty players. Those who encounter them in combat often turn tail and run to avoid being eliminated. Some Skins also provide a slight competitive edge by being slender in design or by blending into the environment better. According to the community, Anime Skins are pay-to-lose.
Upcoming item Shop
The Fortnite Item Shop is the beating heart of the Battle Royale experience. Since the game is based on a third-person perspective, Skins play a major role and serve as style statements for the millions of players. Over the years, it has changed and evolved to accommodate more than just Outfits. These days, players can purchase Bundles/Sets, Locker Bundles, and Real-Money Bundles/Sets as well.
Although Fortnite has a lot of things on offer, the Item Shop is perhaps still the most visited part of the game. As soon as players log into the game, there’s a high chance that they will visit the Item Shop to check out the latest offerings on display. The only downside is that unlike leakers/data-miners who showcase upcoming content, there’s no way to officially know what will be added to the Item Shop until the rotation occurs.
However, at times, Epic Games does provide hints as to what players can expect after the next rotation. While they do not say it outright, they do mention it in terms of hints via social media or via content creators and professional players.
