Debutant Tushar Deshpande got rid of Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza to register his maiden international wicket in the fourth T20I at Harare Sports Club on Saturday, July 13.

Indian captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to ball first, with Tushar replacing Avesh Khan in the playing XI. The right-arm pacer didn't start well as he gave 21 runs in his first two overs.

On the third delivery of the 18th over in Zimbabwe's innings, Tushar took his first wicket. The Indian pacer bowled an off-pace delivery outside off, as Raza reached for it in an attempt for a big shot but got deceived for pace as captain Gill completed an easy catch near cover.

Raza’s dismissal left his team at 141/5 after 18.3 overs. Tushar bowled three overs in his debut match, conceded 30 runs, and took an important wicket of Raza.

Here’s the video of the dismissal:

Tushar got his maiden national call-up after finishing as the highest wicket-taker for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last two IPL seasons. He received his debut cap in the presence of his wife, Nabha Gaddamwar.

Team India on their way to three straight wins

After being asked to bat first, the Zimbabwe openers started well. Wesley Madhvere (25) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (32) stitched a 63-run opening partnership.

In the middle over, captain Sikandar Raza led from the front. The right-hander scored 46 off 28 balls; he hit two fours and three sixes in his innings as Zimbabwe ended at 152/7 after the allotted 20 overs.

Indian bowlers were brilliant, as they kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Khaleel Ahmed took two wickets, while Tushar Deshpande, Washington Sundar, Abhishek Sharma, and Shivam Dube bagged one.

India were 106/0 after 10 overs at the time of writing. Shubman Gill was batting on 37 off 23 balls, while Yashasvi Jaiswal was on 65 off 37. Team India only needs 47 runs to win from 60 balls to take a 3-1 lead in the five-match T20I series.
