Team India captain Rohit Sharma recently reached Colombo ahead of the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. He did not waste much time as he began preparations in the nets to prepare for the series.

It is going to be a comeback for Rohit in ODIs, as he has been away for more than eight months following a heartbreaking loss in the 2023 World Cup final against Australia.

Rohit overcame the disappointment by lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup last month. Sharma will now return to the 50-over format with renewed energy, looking to build towards the 2025 Champions Trophy.

A fan took to X and shared a video to give a glimpse of Rohit Sharma in Colombo during a practice session. In it, he could be seen in the stands having a friendly interaction with veteran Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews.

"For a leader, I think it’s important to try and lead from the front"- Rohit Sharma on captaincy

During a recent appearance on Aldar Experts Podcast, Rohit Sharma shed light on the importance of the captain walking the talk and leading from the front. He said:

"For a leader, I think it’s important to try and lead from the front, set an example for rest of your colleagues, your teammates. And for me it’s always been important that I’ve always carried myself in a way where I try and set an example for my colleagues. It is just not about what you do on the field, it is also about what you do off the field as well."

He further added:

"I treat them like family, like friends, because as much as you’re part of this team, they share the equal responsibility and equal share in the team to be part of that team. So you got to make them feel homely, you have got to make them feel that you’re wanted here."

Rohit Sharma retired from T20I cricket after winning the World Cup as captain last month. He will most probably continue to lead India in the other two formats for the foreseeable future.
