All-rounder Riyan Parag expressed his emotions after his maiden series for India against Zimbabwe. The Men in Blue won the five-match series convincingly with a 4-1 scoreline.

Riyan took to Instagram to share pictures of himself in action during the series. The photos consisted of the youngster getting his cap, him batting alongside Sanju Samson, and also photos of himself and other debutants Abhishek Sharma, Tushar Deshpande and Dhruv Jurel with the trophy.

Putting his experience into perspective, here's what Riyan Parag captioned his Instagram post:

"These last 2 weeks have reminded me why i play this sport, whom i play it for and what actually matters! Humbled and Honoured to wear this sacred jersey."

Riyan played three games and scored just 24 runs. However, the experience of the international stage would keep him in good stead going forward.


Riyan Parag on debuting for India alongside Abhishek Sharma

Riyan Parag has played a lot of cricket alongside Abhishek Sharma and the duo were also a part of India's 2018 U19 World Cup winning team. It was special for Riyan to make his India debut alongside Abhishek and he revealed that he had discussed the possibility of that with the southpaw during the IPL.

Here's what Riyan told the host broadcaster after the fifth T20I (via India Today):

"We opened our jerseys together. I went to his (Abhishek's) room, he opened it first and then I did. We played the 2018 WC together and next 6 years we did not play. Doing it with him was pretty special."

Riyan also spoke about the character that the Indian team showed after losing the first T20I against Zimbabwe. The Men in Blue made a solid comeback to win the remaining four games and Riyan also heaped praise on Shubman Gill for his captaincy.
