Gautam Gambhir's wife Natasha reacts to her husband succeeding Rahul Dravid as Team India's head coach

Former Indian opening batter Gautam Gambhir's wife Natasha Jain has reacted to her husband's massive career development, the news of which emerged on Tuesday, July 9. The former left-hander was appointed as the new head coach of the Indian team.

Gambhir emerged as the frontrunner to replace Rahul Dravid amid IPL 2024 and his credentials increased manifold after mentoring the Kolkata Knight Riders to the title victory this year. As a result, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced on Tuesday that the Delhi-born lad will take charge from the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.

While the former politician has mentored the Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants in IPL, he is yet to officially coach in professional cricket. Hence, it will be interesting to see if the 42-year-old can continue his good track record with the national team as well.

Following the announcement by Jay Shah, the 58-Test veteran took to his official account on X stated that he feels privileged to be back by wearing a different hat and will do everything to make a billion Indians proud. He stated:

"India is my identity and serving my country has been the greatest privilege of my life. I’m honored to be back, albeit wearing a different hat. But my goal is the same as it has always been, to make every Indian proud. The men in blue shoulder the dreams of 1.4 billion Indians and I will do everything in my power to make these dreams come true."

The Men in Blue are currently in Harare, Zimbabwe for the five-game T20I series. VVS Laxman is serving as the head coach, with the tourists leveling the series after losing a low-scoring series-opener.
