The Beginning After the End anime marks the first adaptation of an American web novel and webcomic

The trailer for The Beginning After the End anime primarily functioned as a teaser, previewing several characters and the action fans can expect from the series. The trailer establishes the protagonist as a former cruel king who finds himself reborn as an infant in a new world. The final shot sees an unknown character donning a mask in the middle of the night, giving off a sinister vibe as the 2025 release window is revealed.

As per Tapas, the publisher of the series, this is the first anime adaptation of an American web novel and webcomic. Additional staff beyond those mentioned above include Takamitsu Kono overseeing series scripts, with Masami Sueoka designing the characters. Keiji Inai is composing the music for the series, while Slow Curve is credited with producing the anime.

Original web novel/webcomic creator and author TurtleMe is the story supervisor and executive producer for The Beginning After the End anime. Tapas Entertainment’s Mike Zhu, Kevin Nicklaus, and TurtleMe LLCs Gabrielle Luu are also credited as executive producers for the anime. The webcomic launched on Tapas in July 2018, with TurtleMe in charge of the story and adaptation for the webcomic. Tapas describes the web novel’s story:

The Beginning After the End follows the thrilling journey of King Grey, a once-powerful ruler reborn into a vibrant world of magic, mythical creatures, and epic battles. Now living as Arthur Leywin, a boy with untapped potential, he discovers that his new life is filled with danger and adventure at every turn. From mastering powerful spells to facing fierce enemies, Arthur must use his skills and wits to protect those he cares about and uncover the secrets of his mysterious reincarnation. Along the way, he finds friendship, challenges, and a destiny that could reshape the very world around him.”

The original web novel series launched in English on the Tapas platform in January 2017, with 1,465 “episodes” currently published as of this writing.
