WWE SmackDown - 3rd May - Preview

SmackDown was taped this Tuesday in Detroit, MI and as always, it is expected that we will get to see some interesting prospects tonight. Several storylines and questions that remained unanswered in RAW will be dealt with tonight and we will get to see several new issues rising up for RAW next week. Anyway, here is a preview of this week’s SmackDown.

Will the race for the World Heavyweight Title see something different?

RAW this week saw Zeb Colter, Ricardo Rodriguez and Big E Langston face off against each other in a triple threat match, with the winner getting to choose the stipulation for the Extreme Rules match for the World Heavyweight title. While this match was strange, it is intriguing if we will get to see something equally strange on SmackDown. A triple threat tag match maybe, between the three teams? Don’t be surprised if I’m right, because, that there, was a spoiler. Anyway, this match has the potential to do quite well and if by any chance Ziggler gets to win, it will give him a huge momentum.

Big Show vs Randy Orton

We didn’t see Big Show out on RAW this week and does that mean the same here too? Maybe not. Randy Orton and the Big Show have been in a feud and it will be meaningless to see either of them absent on SmackDown this week. Though the brand split doesn’t have much meaning nowadays, maybe WWE wants to reserve Big Show to SmackDown to give this show some solidarity.

Mark Henry vs Sheamus

While the World’s Largest Athlete was absent on RAW this week, the World’s Strongest Man was live and was apparently flexing his muscles as he challenged Brodus Clay and Tensai for a tug rope contest. Sheamus later challenged Henry, only to cheat him and put him flat on his back with a Brogue Kick. Will Mark Henry take his revenge on Sheamus or will Sheamus make him lie flat in the ring again?

Team Hell No vs The Shield

It always occurred to me that the Shield were one way or the other going for the tag team titles. For the past two weeks the Shield have interfered and messed with Team Hell No making it much more obvious that the tag team titles are now under extreme jeopardy. Maybe WWE has finally found the time to split Team Hell No and what better way to do it other than the Shield. Will Team Hell No respond to the way Shield massacred Taker? or will we see another ambush by the Shield?

Will John Cena be present this week on SmackDown?

SmackDown is not a place where we get to see huge stars. While it was shocking to see Cena present on RAW this week, the same cannot be expected this week on SD. For long, SD has been playing second fiddle to RAW and it is high time this trend changed. Though, for the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any solace as John Cena wouldn’t risk his injury by appearing on SmackDown of all shows.
