5 reasons why Teddy Long should be the GM of SmackDown

Well, that’s an absolute shocker!

The biggest highlight from RAW this week was the return of Theodore Long, popularly known as Teddy Long. This former GM of SmackDown made his way to the WWE arena at Oklahoma and claimed that he would love to once again run SmackDown, which obviously was a surprise.

When the world is busy speculating whether Shane or Steph would run the sister show, Teddy Long's return obviously was a game changer. Looking at this in yet another prospect would make you realize that this indeed was best for business as of now. As part of this slideshow, let us have a look at 5 reasons why Teddy Long should take control of the rejuvenated SmackDown-

Experience

He enjoyed a six year term as the GM of SmackDown

This right here is an individual who was the only person in the history of the company to serve as the General Manager of a WWE show for two terms - And you can't teach that! A man known for variety, fun, work ethic and loads of creativity! Teddy Long has served as the GM of SmackDown for 6 years and don't get me wrong when I say this- SmackDown was it's very best during Teddy's reign as the GM.

A manager who has been an ardent supporter of faces in WWE and who always gave heels the worst they ever expected and the only GM who has given the WWE universe the best of the matches they could imagine on a weekly show – well, Teddy has it all! On any given day, in a corporate organization, experience matters and something like this is needed for SmackDown just after its re-birth.

Fan base

The crowd absolutely loves him

Remember the September 4, 2006 episode of Raw held at Atlanta when Teddy Long appeared to a tremendous ovation from the WWE universe? This show had a mixed tag match between Randy Orton, Edge and Lita against Trish Stratus, Carlito and John Cena and during the match, Teddy's chants were loud and clear. You generally chant a managers name while he address the crowd and his chants at a time when guys like Cena, Edge and Randy are in action is quite unfamiliar. Isn't it?

More than anything, SmackDown needs some star power, for it to be any effective. The draft picks will surely add the requisite star power on the roster and a leader who leads all the crew from the front is all the more important now. SmackDown is the show to be, Teddy is the man to decide, the WWE universe is the group to be satisfied!

Shane & Steph should work together a little longer

Let the family sort the things out

No matter how much you believe that Steph has turned face, you still can't love the scene of Steph taking charge of RAW or SmackDown. Here is the catch – let's explore both the sides of the coin.

Imagine Steph takes control of RAW then Shane would have to run SmackDown. In this case, SmackDown would surely experience a spike in ratings, thanks to Shane's aura but what about RAW? Do you think the people would adore the show when Steph takes total control of the show once again? You can't sacrifice the tree for the fruit, right!

Talk about the other side of the coin. If Shane controls RAW and Steph takes charge of SmackDown, does she possess the required thrust to launch the show will a bang! I don't think so!

So, let both of them work together on RAW a little long and during this period, let us enjoy what Teddy has to offer us on SmackDown.

Variety

The best part about Teddy is his creativity

The single most popular thing about Teddy is his creative brain. He was so amazing with his decisions that he always strives to give the fans a never before experience. A very good example would be his agile decision on RAW today to schedule a Fatal-4-way match among The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods) (c), Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, Enzo Amore and Big Cass and The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch).

Who would not love variety and so Teddy? Yet another example from the vault would be his landmark decision in 2009 when he announced that the Hardys - Matt and Jeff would face each other in the first-ever stretcher match in SmackDown history.

It's all funny when Teddy is around

Teddy is absolutely funny

The funny side of Teddy is something that we all love. His entrance, attire, backstage trolls and what not! This guy is in his 60s but still manages to entertain the WWE fans with his presence. Steph and Shane were a little serious when it comes to business affairs but Teddy on the other side is a lot different. Remember the confrontation between Steph and Teddy today on RAW where Teddy used the "The dollar dollar make u go Holla Holla #playa" catch phrase?

This individual is fun to watch and majority of the WWE universe wants to see him as the first GM of the rejuvenated SmackDown!
