Bron Breakker has been destroying everyone in his path since being drafted to WWE RAW, but it's fair to say that Jey Uso cooked him on the mic tonight. Main Event Jey and the Intercontinental Champion exchanged words before their title match next week. The former Bloodline star took a dig at the Dog of WWE's NFL career, saying his title reign will be similarly 'short and sweet'.

Breakker, 26, explained in an interview two years ago why he didn't make it to the NFL. He cited the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting his American Football career and the fact that he didn't receive a call to join a team.

The reigning Intercontinental Champion was signed to the NFL Baltimore Ravens from April to August 2020 until he was released. The 6ft 250lb star played running back and fullback during his American Football career. His father, Rick Steiner, wanted him to continue, but he pushed for a professional wrestling career.

Bron Breakker failed to make it in the NFL, but he's more than shining in WWE as one of the main roster's champions. He faces, perhaps, the biggest test of his title reign thus far when he goes toe-to-toe with Jey Uso.

The new rivals will face one another on WWE RAW (September 23) next week instead of the upcoming PLE Bad Blood (October 5). Promo segments like the one tonight suggest they may deserve to battle on the bigger stage.

Will Jey Uso dethrone Bron Breakker and win his first singles title on WWE RAW next week?

The stage is set for Jey Uso and Bron Breakker's Intercontinental Championship match, and it's a tough one to call. On the one hand, the champ has been relentless during his reign and initial pursuit of the title.

Breakker hasn't only beaten foes such as Sami Zayn and Ilja Dragunov but he's caused havoc. He took out Ricochet (now in AEW) by slamming him through a windshield in the parking lot.

Jey Uso has one of the biggest opportunities of his singles career next week, and it's been a long time coming for the former seven-time tag champion. He's been close to achieving singles gold on several occasions in his career but just came up short.

The Judgment Day is likely to be a problem for Jey, given his recent affiliation with Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest. For this reason, Breakker could leave WWE RAW still champion next week.

It remains to be seen how things pan out on the red brand next week.
