The latest episode of WWE NXT brought significant developments for the upcoming NXT Battleground Premium Live Event. With the event less than two weeks away, the match card has nearly been finalized.

During this week's show, General Manager Ava announced that Roxanne Perez would defend her NXT Women's Championship against TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace. Grace made a shocking appearance during the show to confront Roxanne, marking her first appearance in WWE since her participation in the Women's Royal Rumble Match in January earlier this year.

Additionally, NXT Tag Team Champions Axiom and Nathan Frazer accepted the challenge from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson for a tag team match for the title at Battleground.

Qualifying matches for the Six-Pack Ladder Match to crown the inaugural Women’s North American championship also took place during the show. Michin and Kelani Jordan secured their spots with wins over Tatum Paxley and Wren Sinclair, respectively.

Moreover, popular rapper Sexyy Red made an appearance, declaring that she would be the host of the upcoming Premium Live Event.

The updated match card of the 2024 NXT Battleground following this week's show is as follows:

  • Roxanne Perez (c) vs Jordynne Grace - Singles match for the NXT Women's Championship
  • Oba Femi (c) vs Joe Coffey vs Wes Lee - Triple Threat Match for the NXT North American Championship
  • Axiom and Nathan Frazer (c) vs Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson - Tag Team Match for the NXT Tag Team Championships
  • Lola Vice vs Shayna Baszler - NXT Underground Match
  • Sol Ruca vs. Lash Legend vs. Fallon Henley vs. Jaida Parker vs. Michin vs. Kelani Jordan - Ladder Match for the inaugural NXT Women's North American Championship

Another major title match could soon be announced on WWE NXT next week

In the main event of this week's episode of WWE NXT, Trick Williams and Je'Von Evans secured a victory over Gallus in a tag team match.

As Trick was celebrating the win inside the ring, the lights suddenly went out. When they came back on, Ethan Page was seen viciously attacking the current NXT Champion.

Since Trick Williams currently doesn't have an opponent at Battleground, a potential match against the former AEW star could be announced for the PLE next week on NXT.
