Last year's SummerSlam had eight booked matches, including a half-hour Tribal Combat main event between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso. In the end, Iyo Sky's cash-in technically pushed the total to nine matches.

Another contest was the Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal, won by LA Knight. Slim Jim isn't involved this year, so the Battle Royal will most likely be replaced by an actual match.

This year's card should have at least nine contests and there's enough talent to book 10 official matches. In the past, WWE has allotted time that could be used for another match for random appearances from musical acts or celebrities.

Bayley vs. Nia Jax, Gunther vs. Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan are already confirmed for the show, while Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa most likely will be after The American Nightmare accepted Solo's challenge. Logan Paul vs. LA Knight is likely to be added on SmackDown. With five matches seemingly already slated for SummerSlam, the following predictions will fill out the rest of the card.

#5. Chad Gable battles the Wyatt Sicks

Chad Gable was the first star targeted by the recently debuted Wyatt Sicks faction. After several messages focusing on the treatment of family, the group targeted him for the way he treated the Alpha Academy.

The former RAW Tag Team Champion coaxed Bo Dallas into the ring on the latest RAW and was backed up by the Creed Brothers before the Wyatt Sicks entered and the newly formed alliance retreated. Due to the time invested in this angle, a match in Cleveland seems likely.

Pat McAfee has also been targeted by the creepy faction but the announcer changed his tune a bit after watching Erick Rowan's recent tape. Since McAfee vs. Uncle Howdy is probably off the table, Gable and the Creeds will most likely battle Uncle Howdy and two of his cohorts.

#4. A Women's Tag Team Fatal Four-Way title match

Due to various storylines, some big names may not have matches at SummerSlam. Seth Rollins is in the middle of the feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre.

Tiffany Stratton will likely appear with her Money in the Bank briefcase. Kevin Owens and Randy Orton will factor in Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa. With the renewed focus on several female duos, a multi-team match seems like a good bet to be added.

The Unholy Union will defend against Sonya Deville's group, Damage CTRL, and Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. WWE will want to get Belair on the card, especially since she isn't a champion.

#3. Sami Zayn defends the Intercontinental Title in a Triple Threat

Bron Breakker lost cleanly to Sami Zayn at Money in the Bank. That hasn't stopped his pursuits to claim the title. He has continued to assault Zayn and anyone in his path.

Ilja Dragunov has tried to temper Breakker's actions but has been added to the fray. Zayn gave him a title shot on the latest RAW but Breakker interfered to end the match in a disqualification.

With those three men hovering around each other, expect the champ to defend his belt against two stars new to the main roster in The Mad Dragon and Breakker.

#2. DIY gets a hometown title defense in Cleveland

DIY won the WWE Tag Team Titles from A Town Down Under two weeks ago and defeated Waller and Theory again last week. Gargano's ties to Cleveland have been well documented. The title swap was likely done to give Johnny Wrestling a big match in his hometown at SummerSlam.

Since DIY has defeated Grayson Waller and Austin Theory twice, other teams could emerge. Pretty Deadly looms as one of the most entertaining teams in the company. The Bloodline will likely be involved in the main event and will factor into the tag team scene after SummerSlam.

There aren't any other SmackDown duos ready for a shot other than the Street Profits. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins should face DIY in a friendly match since Dawkins is also from Ohio.

#1. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre finally face off at SummerSlam

With SummerSlam being the second biggest PLE of the year, WWE will want some huge non-title matches. One of the biggest ongoing feuds of 2024 has been Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk.

The two have cost each other numerous opportunities with Punk doing most of the work lately. All that stands in the way of a potential showdown at SummerSlam is medical clearance for Punk.

Since he's been physical in his last few appearances, that is only a matter of time. While the two stars will seemingly clash in Cleveland, it won't be the last time they fight in 2024.
