Will the past bleed into the future of NXT 2.0?

WWE NXT 2.0 hosted Halloween Havoc last week. The episode saw several top championships change hands during the show. MSK lost their NXT Tag Team Championships to Imperium after a good match.

Meanwhile, Io Shirai and Zoey Stark lost their titles to Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. Toxic Attraction’s Mandy Rose was also successful at Halloween Havoc as the return of Dakota Kai allowed her to win the NXT Women’s Championship.

Only Tommaso Ciampa walked out of Halloween Havoc with his title around his waist. This week on NXT 2.0, fans expected WWE to build some new rivalries for the new champions. MSK looked to make a comeback after their loss at the hands of Imperium.

Solo Sikoa also made his debut on the show and impressed fans with a quick win over Jeet Rama. Meanwhile, Xyon Quinn picked up another squash win on NXT 2.0.

Tuesday night was filled with some good matches and segments. Let's take a look at the five things WWE got right on NXT 2.0 this week.

#5. WWE NXT 2.0 set the stage for the next challenger for the women’s title

After defeating Raquel Gonzalez for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship at Halloween Havoc, Mandy Rose kicked off the show on Tuesday night. She celebrated the victory of Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. Rose told the NXT 2.0 Universe that the rest of Toxic Attraction was busy beating down Zoey Stark backstage.

Io Shirai took things personally and came out to challenge her to a match. Rose said she was ready for the challenge and attacked Shirai before throwing her out of the ring.

The Genius of the Sky returned to suplex Rose in the corner and set up a moonsault. Dolin and Jayne came out to make the save and beat down the former NXT Women's Champion.

Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter evened the odds on NXT 2.0 and sent the champions running.

NXT 2.0 started well with the new women’s champion in the ring. Her promo seemed much better than the ones she delivered over the past several weeks.

Shirai is the best women’s wrestler in NXT 2.0, and she will give Rose a great match whenever the two women meet. However, losing to Rose is something that can really damage Shirai’s image.

#4. Bron Breakker ran through Andre Chase on WWE NXT 2.0

Andre Chase came out on WWE NXT 2.0 as he was unhappy with the crowd calling him a coward after last week's antics. He took to the ring and issued a challenge to anyone in the back.

His challenge was answered by the fastest rising star in NXT, Bron Breakker. Bron failed to win the NXT Championship from Tommaso Ciampa at Halloween Havoc, but he was ready to prove himself once again.

Breakker took control early and sent Chase out of the ring. The heel tried to wear Breakker down and got in a few strikes to take control. However, the massive superstar showcased his strength and responded with shoulder blocks.

He ended the match with a military press powerslam for a quick win. Afterward, Breakker grabbed a mic and accepted his loss to The Blackheart last week on NXT 2.0. However, he promised to defeat the top champion soon.

Bron Breakker is getting all the spotlight he deserves in NXT 2.0. He will be a big future star for the company, and NXT did well to give him a good win after his loss last week.

It’s only a matter of time before he turns full heel and runs through Tommaso Ciampa.

#3. Legado del Fantasma defeated Kyle O'Reilly and Von Wagner on WWE NXT 2.0

After building up this rivalry on WWE NXT 2.0 and social media, Kyle O'Reilly and Von Wagner finally got their hands on Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza.

Wagner took control of the match early and hit Wilde and Mendoza with double suplexes. He showcased his strength before Legado del Fantasma made a comeback into the match.

Wagner broke free and tagged O’Reilly into the match. The former Undisputed Era member went on a roll until Elektra Lopez distracted him on NXT 2.0. The distraction allowed Mendoza to take control again and punish KOR.

Wagner made the save late in the match, but miscommunication between the two men cost them. Wilde took advantage, rolled up the big man, and used the ropes to pick up the win.

The match was decent and gave all four superstars a chance to shine. KOR and Wagner can end up working well together if given enough time. Mendoza and Wilde were great as well, and it seemed fitting to see the heels pick up a big win.

#2. Carmelo Hayes got in Tommaso Ciampa’s face on WWE NXT 2.0

Tommaso Ciampa came out later in the night to gloat about his victory against Bron Breakker at NXT Halloween Havoc. He told viewers that he proved his worth to the world once again.

NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes interrupted Ciampa to call himself the A-Champion. Hayes talked trash to the NXT Champion and told him to take a backseat.

Trick Williams got in Ciampa’s face and ate a mouthful of fists for his trouble. Johnny Gargano walked out for his match just as Ciampa was making his exit. The two men stared at each other before The Blackheart left.

WWE seems to be high on Hayes, and that is exactly why he is getting such a big push so early. He is a talented athlete, and it looks like WWE is already building a championship rivalry between him and Ciampa.

Meanwhile, the little face-off at the end of the segment was great. Gargano and Ciampa have already had their final fight on the old version of NXT, but things can change with the recent revamp of the brand.

#1. Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams picked up a big win on WWE NXT 2.0

Dexter Lumis joined Johnny Gargano as the two men took on Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams in a tag team match on WWE NXT 2.0. Lumis spooked out his opponents early and worked surprisingly well with Gargano.

Trick tried to get his team back into the match with a cheap shot to Gargano. Hayes took advantage and took out the former NXT Champion with a springboard clothesline.

Lumis had to interfere to save his 'father-in-law,' and all four men traded strikes. Gargano and Lumis hit stereo forearms followed by superkicks to down Hayes and Williams.

Late in the match, The Tortured Artist locked into the Silence on Melo. Trick hit Lumis with his shoe, and the distraction allowed the NXT North American champion to deliver a diving axe kick for the victory.

This was the best match of the night that allowed Hayes and Williams to showcase their talent. Melo was great in the ring once again and worked very well with Johnny Wrestling.

Their rivalry is far from over, and fans will likely get an NXT North American Championship match between Hayes and Gargano soon.
