Cody Rhodes is set to face Gunther in a Champion vs. Champion Match at WWE Crown Jewel. Both stars have been booked pretty strong in the last couple of years, which is likely to create a problem for the company when deciding the winner. However, there is a way both men could come out looking solid.

Over the past year, The American Nightmare has defeated many top names, including Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate lost the trilogy to Rhodes, with their match at SummerSlam on August 5, 2023, being his last appearance so far. However, there are rumblings of Lesnar's return after he was referenced twice on RAW. Crown Jewel on November 2 could be an excellent place to reintroduce him.

The seven-time WWE World Champion could cost Cody Rhodes his match against Gunther and reignite their rivalry. This way, The Ring General could continue his winning run without making The American Nightmare look weak.

This would, of course, depend on if Brock Lesnar is cleared by the WWE legal team. The Beast Incarnate was seemingly alluded to in a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, which reportedly resulted in the return plans for him being nixed.

Cody Rhodes will also have to keep a close eye on another WWE Superstar

Being a top superstar, Cody Rhodes is a marked man in WWE. The American Nightmare recently finished his feud with The Bloodline but The Rock made his return at Bad Blood to increase the champion's problems. Furthermore, Rhodes suffered a betrayal after the premium live event as Kevin Owens turned on him for siding with Roman Reigns.

Owens looks to be on a collision course with Rhodes. He could cost the latter his match at Crown Jewel. The duo almost exchanged blows on SmackDown before they were stopped by Nick Aldis and security.

There are also speculations of Randy Orton betraying Cody Rhodes and things could get tricky for the champion if it happens. Triple H and Co. have been subtly teasing The Viper's heel turn and many believe he could join Kevin Owens soon.
