Teddy Long, Rob Van Dam, Vickie Guerrero, and other WWE legends made their appearance on last week's episode of SmackDown. The show was a special one, but now reports have revealed whether there are further plans for them.

Last week, SmackDown made its return to USA Network after five years on FOX. The show was also the blue brand's season premiere. The episode ended up having cameos from several top stars who were all a part of the show. Following these appearances, there have been questions about their future involvement with the company and what roles they could play.

On SmackDown, Rob Van Dam, Teddy Long, Vickie Guerrero, and Ron Simmons all appeared as part of the crowd. They were even lightly involved, with Guerrero making a decision about a dumpster match for Mia Yim.

According to a report by Fightful Select, there are no plans for Guerrero, RVD, Simmons, or Teddy Long to be used regularly going forward. This does not mean that they won't appear occasionally, but as far as regular programming is concerned, it appears that, at this time, there are no roles for them.

Not mentioned in the report were William Regal and Bobby Roode, but they were also on the show and are part of the company backstage.

Only the future will reveal more about their potential involvement.

WWE is heading for a new era

While WWE SmackDown returned to the USA Network, at the end of this year, the company will be heading into a truly new era that will change everything about the promotion.

Not only will RAW be leaving USA Network, but it will also be moving to Netflix, which is a streaming service. This will be the first time that the show won't air regularly on traditional TV networks.

What this will mean for the freedom offered and the timings of the show is uncertain. But WWE RAW is already set to go back down to two hours from October, at least until it starts on Netflix. What happens then remains to be seen.
