WWE NXT aired last night on the USA Network. This marked the return of the white-and-gold brand to the network following two weeks on SyFy thanks to coverage of the 2024 Olympics.

The show featured three championship matches with two different titles changing hands. The main event saw the NXT Tag Team Title move on over to Chase U. Meanwhile, Charlie Dempsey shocked the world by dethroning Tony D'Angelo of the NXT Heritage Cup.

Myles Borne interfered in the contest, causing Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo to help The Don, but Wren Sinclair did too. In fact, she was the difference maker in the bout thanks to her hanging Tony up on the ropes.

Regardless of the dubious means by which Charlie won the trophy, he is indeed the new Heritage Cup holder. Now the question becomes who might challenge the son of William Regal for the prestigious title. This article will take a look at a handful of possible challengers for the NXT Heritage Cup.

Below are four challengers for Charlie Dempsey following his championship win on WWE NXT.

#4 Tavion Heights is making moves in Japan

Tavion Heights is an incredible athlete. He has a history in amateur wrestling and fans can see that every time he sets foot into a WWE ring. He was recently recruited by the No Quarter Catch Crew, which has in turn made him a constant presence on television.

The New Quarter Catch Crew member isn't currently in the United States. Instead, he is wrestling in Pro Wrestling NOAH as part of WWE's relationship with the promotion. Josh Briggs is also overseas at the moment. Still, Tavion has been a major hit with Japanese fans and he is quickly getting over.

While Tavion and Charlie are in the same faction together, Tavion's immense talent and likability could lead to him also becoming popular with Florida fans at the Performance Center. If so, it could mean he leaves the No Quarter Catch Crew and challenges Dempsey for the trophy.

#3 Trick Williams has yet to win the NXT Heritage Cup

Trick Williams is possibly the most popular superstar in the history of WWE NXT. After breaking away from Carmelo Hayes, Williams has become one of the most beloved names both on the brand and in pro wrestling altogether.

The former NXT Champion is having a tough time in WWE right now. He unfortunately lost his prized title at the last premium live event to Ethan Page in a Fatal Four-Way Match. He has since been defeated by RAW's Pete Dunne.

It may be time for Trick to bow out of the title picture, at least when it comes to the NXT Championship. Instead, he could shift his focus to the Heritage Cup and perhaps improve a different element of his game, which could make him an even better and more complete performer.

#2 WWE RAW's Pete Dunne could chase a title he hasn't held

Speaking of Pete Dunne, The Bruiserweight has quite the reputation and already has a few accolades under his belt. The WWE star is a former NXT Tag Team Champion, the second-ever United Kingdom Champion, and has won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Recently, the former Brawling Brute member has turned heel. He is feuding with Sheamus on WWE Monday Night RAW. At the same time, he is having continued issues with Trick on the NXT brand.

Given that Pete already has multiple feuds, he may as well also chase an accolade he has yet to achieve. With the Heritage Cup having roots connected to NXT UK, a brand Pete helped put on the map, it only makes sense for The Bruiserweight to win the trophy.

#1 Oba Femi could fight Charlie Dempsey in a title unification match

Oba Femi is the most dominant star on NXT today. Despite only being with WWE for a relatively short period, he has quickly become one of the more exciting wrestlers to watch. He is also the reigning North American Champion.

The powerful Nigerian defended his prized WWE NXT North American Championship last night. He went one-on-one with the main roster's Otis. The two had a really good match, but Oba dominated the contest like he always does.

If Oba can't find anyone to dethrone him, he could shift his focus to possibly becoming a double champion. Femi chasing the Heritage Cup while also holding the North American Title could lead to a Unification Match. It isn't difficult to imagine Oba with a trophy and a belt at the same time.
