WWE had a historic Money in the Bank weekend full of big moments and memorable matches. Championships were defended, bold statements were made, and opportunities were created as Tiffany Stratton and Drew McIntyre claimed the Women's and the Men's Money in the Bank contracts, respectively. As has been the trend in the Triple H era, the weekend did big business, setting multiple records in and out of the ring.

So, which historic marks were smashed in the Stamford-based promotion in the past week? Which new personal and company bests were set at the iconic event and the other shows surrounding it?

Here are four incredible records broken in WWE this week (July 5-12, 2024).

#4. Money in the Bank 2024 (July 6) was the highest-grossing WWE arena event in Canada ever

Ever since Triple H took over the creative control of WWE, the Stamford-based company cannot seem to stop breaking records. The promotion has had sellout after sellout in 2024, and it seems like every event breaks multiple records. Money in the Bank was no different, setting a new mark as the highest-grossing arena event held in Canada over the company's illustrious history.

It also set viewership records, becoming the most-watched edition of the PLE, bettering the previous best from 2023 by 46%. It also set merchandise and fan hospitality revenue records, on top of John Cena's retirement announcement becoming the most-viewed social media segment since WrestleMania XL.

Despite the mixed reaction to some booking decisions, Money in the Bank 2024 was seemingly a massive financial success for the Stamford-based promotion.

#3. Sami Zayn set a personal best mark as the WWE Intercontinental Champion (July 5)

Since joining WWE in 2013, Sami Zayn has won seven championships across NXT and the main roster. Five of those have been singles titles, with Zayn holding the NXT Championship once and the Intercontinental Championship four times. Before his ongoing reign, the former Honorary Uce's longest-recognized run with a singles championship was 89 days.

On July 5, 2024, The Underdog from the Underground's current reign hit 90 days, becoming his longest singles run as a champion in WWE. The next day, at Money in the Bank, he ensured that it would continue by handing Bron Breakker his first loss on the main roster.

With Breakker and multiple other competitors hot on his tail, it remains to be seen how long the 40-year-old star will hold on to the prestigious title.

#2. Drew McIntyre set an unfortunate WWE record with his Money in the Bank contract cash-in

Drew McIntyre made headlines at WWE Money in the Bank 2024 in multiple ways. Not only did The Scottish Warrior win the Men's Money in the Bank briefcase, but he immediately cashed it in to make Seth Rollins vs. Damian Priest a Triple Threat Match. He was then foiled by CM Punk, who cost him the match with a vicious attack.

In the process of failing his cash-in, McIntyre made some unfortunate history. The former WWE Champion became the first superstar ever to win the contract and unsuccessfully cash it in on the same day.

#1. NXT Champion Ethan Page broke a long-standing Kevin Owens record

"All Ego" Ethan Page won the NXT Championship at NXT Heatwave 2024, sending shockwaves through the WWE Universe. The former AEW star only debuted in the Stamford-based company on the May 28, 2024, episode of the developmental brand, going straight after then-NXT Champion Trick Williams. He then challenged Whoop That Trick in his first match at Battleground less than two weeks later, emerging unsuccessful.

Fast forward four weeks to NXT Heatwave, Page faced off with Williams, Je'Von Evans, and Shawn Spears in a Fatal Four-Way Match. All Ego shockingly emerged victorious, capturing his first title in WWE. In the process, he smashed Kevin Owens' nine-year-old record for the fastest time to win a title after debuting, shaving 22 days off The Prizefighter's previous mark of 62.

Shawn Michaels and Co. seem to have a lot of confidence in the 34-year-old star, so it remains to be seen what more accolades he will receive in the Stamford-based promotion.
