Goldberg made his WWE television return last weekend while attending Bad Blood, where Gunther challenged him. Although both men have teased a possible match, another superstar might be more fitting to be the final opponent of the Hall of Famer.

In a perfect world, Big E would be more than fit to be Goldberg's final opponent before the latter officially retired from in-ring performances. Both men have expressed interest in facing each other in the past, and their skills are equally matched. However, the neck injury E sustained two years ago put him out of action, and his in-ring future has been on the rocks.

Still, the idea remains that The New Day member could have been the perfect opponent for the WCW legend for a few reasons.

Big E would be an interesting contrast to Goldberg's character

The WCW legend is known for his serious, hard-hitting approach in promos and matches. While Big E is also quite physical once inside the ring, their characters outside are far from each other, as the latter is known for his comedic and "positive" character. The former previously expressed that he didn't want a "Big Meaty Men Slapping Meat" type of match, but it might be something they could alter and explore.

If E and the Hall of Famer face each other in a match, the former could somewhat annoy the latter with his positive character for some comedic relief, a scenario that the WCW legend hasn't been placed in that much. On the other hand, Big E could be placed in a more serious segment, an area he hasn't explored. The contrast between them would be interesting to see and play around with.

Aside from both men having different characters, they also have different styles of wrestling. While the Hall of Famer brings more of an old-school type, E has showcased more of a current and modern wrestling style.

It would have been interesting to see what a clash with such different wrestling styles might look like. Goldberg passing the torch to E to the "new era" would have been symbolic and possibly elevated the latter's status as a singles star.

The feud could revolve around their little-known history

Goldberg and The New Day member don't have much on-screen history in the Stamford-based promotion. They haven't engaged in a segment or clashed in a match but, interestingly, both men already met before Big E was even a superstar.

In 2022, the Hall of Famer shared that he first met Big E when the latter attended one of his signings as a kid. The former expressed that it was an honor that, after E was a fan of the WCW legend for years, it was now the legend who is a fan. With this, the Stamford-based promotion could explore an idol becoming a rival storyline, which would be a fitting retirement moment for the Hall of Famer.
