WWE recently stirred up tension between former tag team champions following the most recent edition of Friday Night SmackDown. The tag team in question is A-Town Down Under.

Austin Theory and Grayson Waller lost the WWE Tag Team Championships to DIY on the July 5 edition of SmackDown. The duo challenged Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa for the following week but failed to recapture the titles. After the match ended, Jacob Fatu entered the squared circle to take out everyone except Waller, who ran away from the action.

WWE recently took to Instagram to continue teasing the potential breakup between the two superstars. The account posted unseen footage of the Aussie Icon running into the crowd following Jacob Fatu's unexpected appearance, asking Waller where his tag team partner Theory was.

"Hey, @graysonwallerwwe... where’s @austin_theory? 🤔," read the post.

Austin Theory's comment on the post suggested that he was shocked by the actions of his tag team partner. However, Grayson Waller responded to the former United States Champion's comment, falsely accusing the wrestling promotion of sharing an edited version of the video to create more drama.

Former WWE Champion impressed with Austin Theory

Austin Theory won the 2022 Money in the Bank ladder match within one year of his move to the main roster and looked set to win a World Championship. He defeated Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley in a Triple Threat match at Survivor Series WarGames to win the United States Championship for the second time.

Despite his journey being filled with ups and downs, former WWE Champion Randy Orton praised the youngster during his conversation with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Senior Editor, Bill Apter. The Viper thinks that Theory will become the World Champion one day.

"It's hard, I don't have a crystal ball or anything, but Austin Theory is young and he's got a great look. I know where his head's at. I've had plenty of talks with him, and a lot of the things that I did as a kid that I maybe shouldn't have, the distractions that I was confronted with, he doesn't have those. I think he's just a little more gung-ho, motivated. He sees the goal, he sees the prize, he knows what he wants. I think he'll definitely be a world champion one day," he said.

Austin Theory appears to be rated highly by fellow superstars and several wrestling fans. If he and Grayson Waller part ways, it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the former Money in the Bank winner.
