Jerry Lawler's contributions to the wrestling business were recognized in 2007 when actor William Shatner inducted him into the WWE Hall of Fame. In an exclusive interview, the 74-year-old addressed whether Michael Cole should join him in WWE's illustrious group of legends.

Cole has worked for WWE since 1997. The veteran commentator currently calls the in-ring action alongside Corey Graves on SmackDown. Over the years, he has shared the announce booth with Lawler, John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL), Pat McAfee, and many others.

Asked about Cole's Hall of Fame credentials, Lawler told Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter that his former commentary partner is worthy of an induction:

"I'm surprised he's not in the Hall of Fame, but he's great. He was terrific. I can't tell you, I mean, they put me with a lot of different partners." [3:03 – 3:19]

Jerry Lawler praises his other WWE commentary partners

In the early-to-mid 1990s, Jerry Lawler was a color commentator while former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon served as a play-by-play announcer.

While Lawler enjoyed his legendary Attitude Era partnership with Jim Ross, he also liked McMahon's unique style of WWE commentary:

"I really loved working with him [Vince McMahon]. He was so, I don't know, just so good at what he did. He was [over the top]. And then from there I went with JR [Jim Ross] and he was just a natural and he's still doing it with AEW." [3:38 – 4:00]

Lawler added that he also considers Cole a "natural" as a commentator. The two famously faced each other in 2011 at WrestleMania 27, with Cole picking up a controversial win.
