Former WWE head writer Vince Russo feels the company has been too hard on some of its potential megastars. The former writer reviewed this week's SmackDown, and Piper Niven caught his attention.

Piper Niven went one-on-one against Lash Legend, who was making her singles debut on SmackDown this week. The athleticism of Legend came to the fore as she easily defeated Piper despite Chelsea Green trying to cause interference.

On the latest episode of BroDown, Vince Russo questioned WWE's booking of Niven. He felt the 33-year-old star was unnecessarily jobbing out to other stars. He felt Piper had charisma, and the company needed to back her and give her a strong push.

"I don't know what Piper Niven jobs to everybody. I have no idea. I wish I was writing for Piper Niven. With what they've given her, you can see personality there. This girl has personality; you gotta feed her. You gotta give her material. This is the biggest issue I have with that." [From 26:50 onwards]

With this loss, Piper Niven fell back down to the midcard, while just a few months ago she was challenging for the WWE Women's Championship.

It will be interesting to see how the star manages to claw her way back to the top of the division in the coming months.
