WWE legend provides Jerry Lawler health update (Exclusive)

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler has been on the road to recovery since suffering a stroke on February 7, 2023. In an exclusive interview, Harvey Wippleman provided a positive update on his long-time friend's health.

Wippleman, also known as Downtown Bruno, made his name as a wrestling manager in Memphis in the 1980s. Lawler was the top star in the Memphis territory before joining WWE in 1992 as a commentator and occasional wrestler.

Lawler initially had trouble with his speech after the stroke. However, speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Wippleman revealed that the wrestling legend's health has improved significantly:

"In all honesty, I talked to him last night. We talked for a while. We laughed, we cut up, we talked about old funny stories and everything, and it was just almost like it always was. He was maybe talking a little bit slower, but nothing alarming, you know? Like if I was unaware of his medical issues, I would have thought maybe he just had a cold or something. He didn't sound bad at all. We had a really nice conversation. We always laugh and cut up and carry on, so it was great. It was very nice." [1:17 – 1:50]

Harvey Wippleman's WWE status

In 1992, Harvey Wippleman managed Sid Justice during his WrestleMania 8 rivalry with Hulk Hogan. The 58-year-old also joined forces with Giant Gonzalez and Kamala when they feuded with The Undertaker.

Wippleman was a road agent and on-screen personality after performing as a manager for several years. Nowadays, he still works for WWE as an ambassador.

"I'm still with the WWE," Wippleman said. "I just don't travel full-time on the road anymore, but I'm very much a part of the WWE family, Universe." [2:06 – 2:15]
