WWE Head of Creative Triple H teased a popular star's return to the Stamford-based company ahead of the upcoming edition of Friday Night SmackDown. The name in question is former NFL star Rob Gronkowski.

The 35-year-old has made several appearances for the company over the years, one of which included hosting WrestleMania 36. On Night Two of The Show of Shows, he pinned Mojo Rawley to become the 24/7 Champion. Gronkowski held the title for almost two months before losing it to R-Truth.

Gronkowski showed up at the Fanatic Fest earlier today with a New England Patriots-themed championship belt. Fanatics founder and CEO, Michael Rubin, took to his Instagram account to share a video of the football star making his entrance. He stated that the latter might have found his second career in the wrestling promotion. Triple H shared Rubin's post on his Instagram story and you can check it out by clicking here.

Rob Gronkowski opens up about potential WWE career

Rob Gronowski made his first-ever appearance on the wrestling promotion's programming at WrestleMania 33. In a shocking turn of events, Gronk entered the squared circle to help his friend, Mojo Rawley win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Speaking in a press conference before he retired from football, Gronkowski shared his honest take on potentially making a career in professional wrestling. He stated that while he would not be a full-time performer, he would love to have a bout inside a WWE ring. Gron added that he had always dreamed about featuring in a wrestling match, and it might happen at some point in the future.

"With wrestling, I don't feel like I would be a full-time wrestler, but there is one thing I'm down for - And that's to do one crazy match. Practice it for a little bit, go out there, like in a Royal Rumble, go out there, I got my friend in WWE [Rawley], practice it and do a full-on WWE match. I'm not saying when. Maybe five years. I got the rest of my life to do that. I've always dreamed about doing that, just one time, going in there and going full out. That may be a possibility, one time, down the road," he said. Gronk has often talked about his love for professional wrestling. It remains to be seen if he will ever return to World Wrestling Entertainment and fulfill his dream of taking to the squared circle.
