"They need to take a long, hard look at themselves" - Ex-star on whether he burned a bridge with WWE

WWE releases often come as a shock, as these decisions alter the career trajectory of wrestlers in the months or years that follow. Recently, Donovan Dijak addressed his exit from the Stamford-based promotion and commented on whether he burned a bridge with the company.

Earlier this year, Dijak left the promotion as his contract with the company expired in June and a new offer wasn't presented to the 37-year-old star when he moved to Monday Night RAW.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Dijak Donovan addressed his exit from WWE. The former WWE star stated he has only addressed facts and hasn't burned any bridge from his end. Moreover, he stated that the company needs to re-evaluate itself.

“That’s not up to me. I’ll put it this way. If that letter burned a bridge with WWE, then they need to take a long hard look at themselves because everything in that letter is true and it’s what they did. So if me telling the truth about their actions, burns a bridge, then maybe they should consider changing their actions because that doesn’t reflect well on them. All I did was say what you did to me. I didn’t scorn anyone, I didn’t throw anyone under the bus. I didn’t call anyone names or throw out thoughts or allegations or anything like that. Dijak on whether WWE provided him an explanation before leaving the company

Dijak's exit surprised many in the realm of professional wrestling as the star had re-established himself as a credible name under Shawn Michaels' leadership in NXT and was called up to WWE's main roster for a second run under Triple H's leadership.

However, it didn't work out for the 37-year-old star as he left the promotion. In the same interview, Dijak Donovan explained why he received no explanation and how the behind-the-scenes have changed under Endeavor.

"Now Endeavor owns the company, they got their own set of rules. There’s different levels of creative and how it relates to the board of directors and whatever. I don’t know how any of that works. Somebody had to sit down at some point and say this contract isn’t worth it. I’d love to have been given that explanation and I requested that explanation and it was not given to me and that’s disappointing," Donovan said. [H/T - Chris Van Vliet]
