Sheamus spends time with legendary WWE Hall of Famer ahead of RAW

Sheamus got back to winning ways with a huge win over Bronson Reed last week on WWE RAW. However, it was the latter that had the last laugh after the Irishman's former protégé, Pete Dunne, assisted the Aussie in handing The Celtic Warrior a post-match beatdown.

Creative has an intriguing angle here with Sheamus and Pete Dunne, especially with their history in The Brawling Brutes faction. Perhaps more of this story will be explored tonight on the red brand. Ahead of the show, The Celtic Warrior broke bread with WWE Hall of Famer, Mick Foley.

Taking to Instagram today, Foley enthusiastically shared an update with Sheamus. He even asked fans to drop comments about their favorite match of the Irishman's. The 46-year-old has been a featured star on the company's main roster for 16 years and counting.

"HANGING WITH SHEAMUS! I got together with the Celtic Warrior @wwesheamus to break bread and talk about the old days! Good times… Let me hear about your favorite Sheamus match — there have been some bangers for sure!" Mick Foley wrote.

Since returning in April from an eight-month injury injury layoff, several superstars have taken issue with the veteran. Sheamus has since teased rivalries with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Pete Dunne, while also acknowledging the lack of an Intercontinental Championship win in his illustrious career thus far.

Sheamus credits AEW star Claudio Costagnoli for reviving his WWE career

Sheamus peaked less than a year after his RAW debut in 2009, winning the WWE Championship from John Cena twice in one year. He went on to win high-profile matches against some of the top names in the industry. By 2016, though, creative ran out of ideas for The Celtic Warrior.

He recounted this while conversing with Sports Illustrated, pointing to his "Best of 7" with Claudio Costagnoli (formerly Cesaro) and the eventual formation of The Bar. According to the Irishman, it was their run that changed everything.

"If it wasn't for him, I don't know if I'd still be in WWE. I'd just finished with League of Nations, which didn't work, and I didn't know where I was going. Cesaro had just come back from a shoulder injury, and he didn't know where he was going. Then they put us in the best of seven. By the time we'd wrestled twice, it felt like people were already over it. But we tried to do something different with our fights, and it won the crowd over," he said.

The Bar became incredibly popular among fans. They managed to end The New Day's 483-day reign (a record at the time) as RAW Tag Team Champions, and in the process, kickstarted the first of many tag team championship reigns.
