Sheamus makes interesting request ahead of WWE SmackDown

Sheamus sent an interesting request to WWE fans ahead of tonight's edition of SmackDown. This week's episode of the blue brand will air live from the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The Celtic Warrior is in a rivalry with his former Brawling Brutes' stablemate, Pete Dunne. The 30-year-old was formerly known as Butch in the faction and has blamed Sheamus for giving him the nickname. Dunne defeated the 46-year-old in a singles match on the September 16 edition of RAW.

The veteran took to social media today ahead of SmackDown and made an interesting request to the WWE Universe. He requested that fans continue to call his rival Butch, as seen in the post below.

"CALL HIM BUTCH," he wrote.

Pete Dunne competed in the Intercontinental Championship tournament but came up short in the Fatal 4-Way match on the September 9 edition of RAW. Jey Uso emerged victorious in the Fatal 4-Way match and defeated Bron Breakker this past Monday night to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

Former WWE writer suggests fans no longer care about Sheamus

Wrestling legend Vince Russo recently suggested that fans will no longer be invested in Sheamus following his loss to Pete Dunne earlier this month on WWE RAW.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW show, Russo shared his reaction to the veteran's loss to Dunne on the red brand. He claimed he did not care if the two stars had another match in the storyline. The legend wondered if anyone cared about the former champion getting revenge on Pete Dunne on WWE television.

"So Pete Dunne beat Sheamus. Do you give one iota about Sheamus getting his revenge back? Do you ever care if Sheamus ever gets Pete Dunne in the ring to get his win back? Who cares about that?" [11:50 onwards]

It was recently reported that the former champion had signed a new deal with the promotion. The veteran has accomplished a lot during his time at the company but has never captured the Intercontinental Championship. It will be interesting to see what the promotion has planned for the former leader of The Brawling Brutes moving forward.
