CM Punk's return to professional wrestling, and specifically WWE, has turned out to be fantastic. The Best in the World has turned out to be one of the biggest box office attractions in recent history. However, while he was not associated with the Stamford-based promotion, Punk was a part of the Heels series.
Heels, which was canceled by Starz following a successful two-season run, is a drama series majorly based on the backstage politics in the wrestling industry. CM Punk, who portrayed the role of Ricky Rabies, was one of the biggest names in the cast.
The lead from the series, Stephen Amell, in a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, revealed how the Best in the World ended up getting the role. While he added that Punk was great to work with, he was not originally meant to be a part of the series.
"Phil (CM Punk) wasn't originally in that part. We had shot a bunch of scenes with a different actor and a different actress playing Ricky Rabies and, I think, Vicky Rabies. But then, with everything that went down due to the pandemic, they had to bow out. So, we got Phil in, and he was great, just a great guy to work with, good actor. I stand by my match that I had with him, it was a lot of fun. If that's even 5% of the reason we got him back in the business, then I'm good with that," Stephen Amell said. [52:13 onwards]

CM Punk is set to enter the unforgiving Hell in a Cell structure to take on Drew McIntyre to seemingly end their rivalry once and for all. Both men have one victory against each other, and the match at Bad Blood 2024 could end up crowning the ultimate winner of their heated feud.
The Best in the World has not been seen on WWE TV for the past couple of weeks after McIntyre unleashed a brutal attack on Punk on RAW. However, General Manager Adam Pearce has announced that the 45-year-old star would make his return on the upcoming episode of Monday Night RAW.
With a lot of anticipation among fans for the Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood 2024, it would be interesting to see how things play out for both men over the next few weeks.
