The coveted Intercontinental Championship was on the line on the latest episode of WWE RAW, as Jey Uso defended the title against Xavier Woods. The New Day member had the opportunity to win his first singles title in his 14-year tenure, but he was unsuccessful. He joined WWE in July 2010, as part of the developmental territories.

The Yeet Master dethroned Bron Breakker on the red brand two weeks ago to become the new IC Champion for the first time in his career. It was announced last week that Xavier Woods would be his first challenger, as he stated in a promo that he wanted to be a fighting champion.

During the match on WWE RAW this week, Jey Uso hit Woods with a kick in the corner. The former fell to the floor and Xavier Woods planted him with an Attitude Adjustment. Back in the ring, the two stars traded punches and Woods hit a superkick for a two-count.

He then went to the top rope but ate a superkick after he came back down to the ring. Jey Uso hit a Frog Splash and pinned Xavier Woods to win the match. Woods is the only member of The New Day who has never held a singles championship in WWE.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Woods.
