A major wrestling duo officially signed with WWE ahead of tonight's edition of SmackDown and their debut match has been announced. General Manager Nick Aldis met with the popular duo and noted that they would be in action tonight on the blue brand.

It was reported earlier today that Motor City Machine Guns were spotted at an airport in North Carlina, which is only a few hours away from the venue of tonight's episode of SmackDown. Ahead of the show, WWE shared a video featuring Aldis, Alex Shelley, and Chris Sabin.

The duo signed their SmackDown contracts, and Aldis shared that they would be competing in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match tonight against Los Garza (Berto and Angel) and A-Town Down Under (Grayson Waller and Austin Theory) on WWE SmackDown.

"Okay, so first order of business. I know that you were originally slated to face Los Garza tonight in your SmackDown debut, but I've had one of my trademark changes of heart. Instead, it is now going to be a Triple Threat Match, because, let me explain my thoughts here. You are here to freshen up the tag team division, and you are here to show everybody that you are the very best tag team in the industry. So I thought, well, let's jump in with both feet. So tonight, you're in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match with Los Garza and A-Town Down Under," said Aldis. [From 00:18 - 00:50]

Former WWE writer claims Motor City Machine Guns are no longer a big deal

Former head writer for WWE, Vince Russo, recently claimed that the Motor City Machine Guns were no longer a big deal due to their age.

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are both in their early 40s and have accomplished a lot in the wrestling business. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's BroDown show, Russo claimed that the popular tag team was past their prime now.

The veteran noted that Motor City Machine Guns were a big deal back in the day, but didn't understand why the company would sign them now.

"Not at their age [when asked if MCMG are a big deal]. They were a big deal when we had them in freakin TNA in the 2000s. 2000s! We are in 2025. I mean, come on man. What are we doing? To bring them in at the age they are at, I don’t know, man. I don’t get it," said Russo.
