Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes' reign has received mixed reactions from fans and industry veterans, but he has been a success regardless for the company. At Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 2, he will step into the ring against World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther.

The Champion vs. Champion bout is for the Crown Jewel Championship: a belt made for the namesake event, and cannot be defended outside it. Even though this technically makes the upcoming showdown inconsequential, Tommy Dreamer addressed a huge concern.

The Ring General has only begun his run as the face of Monday Night RAW, with a belt that was only introduced in April 2023. Speaking on Busted Open After Dark, Dreamer noted how all of the efforts put in the past year will go to waste if the match is not booked right:

"If Gunther beats Cody, if there's interference, then you're fine, but if Gunther beats Cody clean, then technically Cody isn't as good as Gunther. And if Cody beats Gunther clean, then technically, Gunther isn't as good as Cody and all that hard work that Seth Rollins and the WWE did to get that title over, then that title is the secondary title. These are the hard things that you have to think about when you're doing such title versus title." [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]

Cody Rhodes Triple Threat, Gunther vs. WWE Hall of Famer at Survivor Series?

Word on the rumor mill of late is that WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg was brought back at Bad Blood to confront Gunther so that it leads to an angle at Crown Jewel, which in turn would result in a first-time-ever showdown at Survivor Series.

This was confirmed during a recent Live Q&A with WrestleVotes and Bill Apter. Goldberg made his in-ring return to WWE after 12 years at Survivor Series in 2016, against Brock Lesnar. Eight years later, could Da Man step back in the ring to take on World Heavyweight Champion Gunther?

As for Rhodes, he suffered a beating at the hands of Kevin Owens at Bad Blood. Former WWE Superstar Matthew Rehwoldt (formerly Aiden English) speculated based on what Triple H & Co. have presented on television, that The American Nightmare will defend his belt at Survivor Series against Owens and Randy Orton, who was also attacked by The Prizefighter recently.
