Kevin Owens is one of the most impactful names on the WWE roster. However, his recent words have confused a Hall of Famer who thinks the star is harming his character.

After the events of SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes decided to offer The Prizefighter a title shot at Bash in Berlin. Surprisingly, Kevin Owens seemed reluctant to accept the offer, ultimately agreeing to it after much deliberation. His hesitation did not make sense to Teddy Long, who recently talked about it disapprovingly.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, the Hall of Famer explained that title shots like these should realistically never be passed. He said:

"That's what the whole story goes you know what I mean? He feels like you know there are other people deserving. Well, in this business, you are not worried about what the other people deserve. If you get the opportunity to go for the World Championship then you go for it. You can't worry about what somebody else needs to do so. That's why I don't understand, you know Kevin is saying stuff like that, it's kinda belittling him you know. And he is a great wrestler I mean, certainly does real good in the ring." [3:38 onwards]

Another WWE veteran believes Kevin Owens will turn heel at Bash in Berlin

While Kevin Owens seems very reluctant to face Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, former WWE star Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English) thinks it is all a setup to turn him heel.

Speaking on his REBOOKED wrestling podcast, Matthew explained that Kevin had his reasons laid out to turn heel during his fight with Cody. According to him, Cody's insistence on the match could be the catalyst for the turn.

"All good heels have a very logical reason for doing the nasty things they do. I think it could work whether he wins the title or not because he just he ends up clicking into this place even just to compete for it. If he's in a match for it. … Then whatever happens, he's got this justification to Cody. 'You did this. You brought this on. I did not want this. I was backing you up. I was your friend. I was your partner. I was your guy. You insisted, you've opened this floodgate,'" Rehwoldt said. [22:37 - 23:22]
