WWE Superstar Jey Uso won the Intercontinental Championship on Monday Night RAW last week. The Uce defeated Bron Breakker in a mind-blowing exchange and emerged as the new champion. Now, The Yeet Master has said that he will be defending the title every week. As a result, he will now face a record-breaking WWE champion. The name in question is Xavier Woods.

The New Day member and one-half of The Usos have shared the ring multiple times. Mr. Yeet mentioned this during a backstage RAW Talk interview with Jackie Redmond and noted that he was looking forward to the match. He even stated that Woods deserved the chance.

“Hell yeah, man, Xavier Woods deserves this opportunity, man. Great tag team. We had this historic rivalry before; I know how he'd get down, man, so I'm excited to put on next week on Monday Night RAW, man. We're going to put on again, it was yeet,” Uso said.

While Jey Uso thinks Xavier Woods deserves a shot at this title, the former proved his worth this week by defeating Rey Mysterio. After an altercation last week, the Hall of Famer faced Woods in singles action.

However, The New Day member secured his win in a highly controversial manner. Moreover, he even dropped a major heel-turn tease before receiving his title shot opportunity.

Xavier Woods wasn’t the first choice of Jey Uso

Xavier Woods got into a fight with Rey Mysterio and The LWO last week. He thought the Hall of Famer didn’t consider him an equal since he wasn’t a world champ. Woods' frustration hinted at heel characteristics. This week, however, he won the match by unmasking Rey Mysterio during the match.

The 11-time WWE Tag Team Champion swore it wasn’t intentional. However, he didn’t wait for Mysterio to put his mask back on, so he rolled him up for a pin instead. When Kofi Kingston asked about this, Woods retaliated by saying he expected a congratulation for the win.

His anger was also visible when Kingston revealed that Jey Uso had offered him a title opportunity next week. Before he could begin another rant about others thinking of him as unworthy, Kofi said he had convinced Mr. Yeet to offer the chance to Woods instead.

It would be interesting to see if The New Day member can capitalize on the chance Kingston will give him next week.
