Gunther recently said some harsh words to Damian Priest on WWE RAW ahead of their World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam. Teddy Long enjoyed the fiery exchange and believes WWE should produce more reality-based segments.

On July 15, Gunther mocked Priest for growing up on the streets. The King of the Ring winner claimed the World Heavyweight Champion's parents did not care enough to provide him with a good life. He also described his rival as "street trash."

Long often participated in promo segments during his days as a WWE on-screen authority figure. On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, he spoke to legendary reporter Bill Apter and host Mac Davis about the authentic RAW promo:

"I love Damian Priest, man," Long said. "He's such a great competitor, and plus entertainer too. He has everything going for him. I saw the promo that Gunther did. Pretty good promo. Those are the promos, whether they're the truth or not, but those are the promos that you've gotta get out there because that touches everybody's nerves. That promo there was real." [1:56 – 2:21]

Long also encouraged WWE to create more feuds that blur the lines between fiction and reality:

"That's what you need, more of stuff that is real because people ain't got their head stuck under their wing somewhere. They're smart now, so you gotta be able to fool them, and I think with that promo there, like I said, whether it was real or not, it was touching." [2:21 – 2:37]

Teddy Long enjoyed a specific moment during Gunther's promo

After taking shots at Damian Priest's upbringing, Gunther bragged about his own childhood. The Ring General said his parents gave him everything he needed because they recognized his "greatness" from an early age.

Teddy Long thinks the former Intercontinental Champion's mic skills helped make fans excited about his upcoming battle with Priest:

"There were just a few words during the ending of that promo that really made the whole story, and that's when Gunther says to him, 'Hey, you had s**t. My parents gave me everything.' And that's real. That's real, man." [3:08 – 3:24]

SummerSlam will take place at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 3. Priest's previous televised World Heavyweight Championship defenses came against Drew McIntyre, Jey Uso, and Seth Rollins.
