The August 9, 2024, episode of WWE SmackDown saw former tag team champions claim a big win. While this win took them a step closer to reclaiming their recently lost title, they also got closer to exacting revenge on The Bloodline.

DIY’s Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano received their big main roster title when they defeated A-Town Down Under last month to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. However, their championship run was slashed down within just 28 days by The Bloodline’s Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu last week ahead of SummerSlam.

In pursuit of reclaiming their gold, the duo of Ciampa and Gargano have now defeated Pretty Deadly in a number-one contender qualifying match.

DIY took control right from the start. While Ciampa and Gargano displayed great teamwork, the match also highlighted them steamrolling the attack singlehandedly at times.

Pretty Deadly did manage to shift the momentum in their favor a few times, but DIY won following a vicious Meet in the Middle.

After this victory, the former WWE Tag Team Champions will face The Street Profits, who also qualified for the next round after beating A-Town Down Under. Notably, before DIY made its entrance, Johnny Gargano sent a message to The Bloodline while speaking to the camera. He said he would never forget how the heel faction stole their championship in his hometown of Cleveland.

It would be interesting to see if this mindset helps him and Ciampa win the next round and get back in the ring with Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga.
