Former champion makes WWE return after 506 days

WWE hosted a live event in Osaka, Japan on Thursday, July 25 which featured the return of a prominent name. Former NXT UK Women's Champion Meiko Satomura made her first appearance for the company in over 500 days as she participated in an Eight-Woman Tag Team Match.

The Japanese star competed in the Mae Young Classic in 2018 but did not join the global juggernaut until 2020. She joined NXT UK as an on-air talent and coach. She soon won the NXT UK Women's Championship and held the title for 451 days before losing to former NXT Women's Champion Mandy Rose in a title unification match.

Meiko's last WWE appearance came on March 7, 2023, when she lost to Roxanne Perez. She returned to the promotion at the recently concluded live event in Osaka, Japan where she teamed up with Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Bayley to defeat Damage CTRL and Tiffany Stratton. Meiko Satomura pinned Dakota Kai to pick up the win for her team.


What else happened at the WWE SuperShow in Osaka, Japan

WWE kickstarted their three-day tour of Japan with a house show in Osaka. The event featured top stars from both RAW and SmackDown in action and had multiple titles on the line.

Aside from Meiko Satomura, AJ Styles also made his return to WWE programming for the first time since losing the 'I Quit' Match to Cody Rhodes. The Phenomenal One faced Rhodes and Shinsuke Nakamura in a Triple-Threat Match. Asuka was also present at the event in her home country. The Empress of Tomorrow has been on the sidelines for the last few months due to an injury.

The roster will be heading to Tokyo next for a house show. The company heavily featured Japanese stars in the first live event and the same is expected for the upcoming events.
