Former AEW star Ethan Page is a WWE champion

Former AEW star Ethan Page just won a WWE championship. He won the title inadvertently.

Ever since arriving in NXT, Ethan Page has been treated like a main event star. His first match in the promotion was for the NXT Championship. However, he came up short. He had another chance to fight for the title but Oro Mensah cost him that opportunity.

Page wriggled himself into the NXT Championship picture at NXT Heatwave. The match which was supposed to be a singles contest ended up being a Fatal Four-Way match after Page and Shawn Spears found their way into the bout. Tonight on Heatwave, all four men showcased how much they want to be NXT Champion.

The match had plenty of good spots. Je'Von Evans proved to be a standout performer showing a lot of heart. He still came back into the match after he was put through the announcer's desk.

However, the match ended in the weirdest way possible. Trick Williams hit the Trick Shot on Je'Von Evans. He then performed the same move on Ethan Page who fell on Evans. But before Trick could break them up, Spears pulled him out of the ring allowing the former AEW star to inadvertently pick up the pinfall victory.

After the match, Trick Williams was not happy with the outcome as he lost his title and could only watch on helplessly.
