WWE regularly adds fresh faces to its roster, and there might be a gap to fill on SmackDown, according to former host, Matt Camp. He would like to see a main roster call-up for Ethan Page.

'All Ego' made his surprise NXT debut in May and has since remarkably captured the brand's top title. Ethan Page will soon defend the NXT Championship against Trick Williams, with CM Punk set to be the guest referee for the match.

On Busted Open, Matt Camp said he believes Ethan Page would do everything to put Williams over massively before having nothing left to do in WWE NXT.

Camp stated that Page's next step was to move to SmackDown, where there was a noticeable gulf between the main event and the midcard. The former host of The Bump, strongly felt that the blue brand needed a credible mid card heel, and Ethan Page was the man for the role:

"There will be nothing left for Ethan Page to do in NXT. I think there is a big gap between the lower and midcard and the main event on SmackDown. I think he is already ready to just go right into that mix. And I think they need a very strong, very confident midcard heel who continues down the road and can move up." [42:20 - 42:46]

Matt Camp has been following Ethan Page's journey since day one, noting that the 35-year-old underwent a phenomenal physical transformation before having a highly acclaimed run in TNA.

A topsy-turvy run in AEW and sister company ROH ended earlier this year, after which Page signed a deal with WWE.

Matt Camp highlights Ethan Page's experience before arriving in WWE

Unlike many other NXT rookies, Ethan Page is a bonafide talent who has wrestled for multiple top companies, as noted above.

The NXT Championship is just one of the many titles he's won and Matt Camp wasn't surprised to see how well Ethan Page had fared. Camp said Page had used his experience and hit the ground running in the Shawn Michaels-led white and gold brand and the endgame should be a good spot on SmackDown.

"Yes, he has more experience than anyone else; yes, he should stand out in a way. But my goodness! Has someone just fallen right into stride since he has appeared on WWE programming? I think that confidence could take him right to the strong midcard heel role, with room to grow," he said. [From 43:08 onwards]

If Ethan Page does lose the title anytime soon, a possible SmackDown debut could be one of the many booking decisions at Triple H's disposal.
