Wrestling icon John Cena announced his retirement from WWE at Money in the Bank on July 6. He revealed that 2025 will mark his final year as an in-ring competitor and informed that he will make the most of it by taking up more dates.

'The show must go on', as they say. WWE will host SummerSlam tonight. Meanwhile, Sami Zayn & Friends Do Cleveland took place at Agora Theatre in Cleveland on August 2. Among other talents representing World Wrestling Entertainment on the show was Indi Hartwell.

Taking to Instagram today, she shared a clip of her on stage performing John Cena's 'The Time is Now' entrance theme. Hartwell also left a three-word message on her story:

"Basic Thuganomics next?" Indi Hartwell wrote.

Sami Zayn's weekend has been evidently eventful thus far, but the bigger question is: will it end with a major blow to The Underdog? At Cleveland Browns Stadium tonight, Zayn will compete in his first SummerSlam match on the main card since his WWE debut.

John Cena tips his hat to Sami Zayn for winning over the WWE Universe

Sami Zayn answered John Cena's "US Open Challenge" in Montreal in 2015, which marked only his second main roster match and first of that year. He was introduced by Bret Hart before the title match. Although he lost, his hometown fans were clearly behind him.

Despite this, Zayn's popularity fizzled out in the years that followed, before he broke the proverbial glass ceiling as an 'Honorary' member of The Bloodline alongside Roman Reigns. Speaking to Andrew Santino on Whiskey Ginger, Cena candidly spoke about The Underdog from the Underground:

"Everyone now, because he’s very popular now, thinks it’s like [snaps fingers], alright, it clicked. His character went through a major reconstruction just about three years ago, maybe even a little more than that. It’s taken him three and a half years, and now all that hard work, and I can see it, I can see how hard he works, and I see how he’s invested in connecting with the audience. It’s paid off. Everybody loves him because they know who he is."

Sami Zayn will be defending the Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker at SummerSlam tonight. This is their second encounter after Zayn scored the first win over the former NXT Champion at Money in the Bank.
