Bron Breakker defeated a legendary former champion at WWE SummerSlam. This is his first title win on the main roster.
Sami Zayn did the unthinkable when he ended Gunther's historic Intercontinental Championship reign at WrestleMania 40. Since then, he has had his fair share of challengers gunning for the title and the champion has done well to fend them off. However, now he was facing his toughest challenger yet, Bron Breakker.
Breakker is a freak of an athlete who dominated NXT for several years. He also won the NXT Championship twice. His performances were so impressive that it didn't take long for him to get called up to the main roster. Since his promotion, Breakker has continued his dominant streak.
After destroying several opponents on the main roster, he challenged for the Intercontinental Championship at Money in the Bank 2024 but came up short. Tonight at WWE SummerSlam, he got another chance to win the title.
The match itself was fast-paced from the beginning and didn't last long. During the closing moments, Sami Zayn went for a Helluva Kick but Bron speared him. The former NXT Champion then hit another spear to pick up the big win.
While Bron Breakker has previously held the NXT Championship twice as well as the NXT Tag Team Championship once, this is his first WWE title win on the main roster.
