The WWE Universe is regarded by many as one of the most outspoken fanbases in all of sports and entertainment. This has often forced officials to make sudden creative changes in the past. Baron Corbin caused a stir on social media today after responding to a major milestone.

The Lone Wolf joined WWE in August 2012 after a two-year NFL career. The two-time Golden Gloves amateur boxer spent almost four years in NXT, then won the Andre the Giant Battle Royal in his main roster debut at WrestleMania 32 in 2016. He had a decent run on the main roster before he was sent back to the developmental brand last year.

Corbin is celebrating the seventh anniversary of his only main roster title win today. At the 2017 Hell in a Cell event, he dethroned then-United States Champion AJ Styles by pinning Shawn Spears in a Triple Threat match. Dolph Ziggler ended Baron's reign at Clash of Champions in a Triple Threat match that included Robert Roode.

A fan took to X/Twitter today to mark the milestone, tagging Corbin and declaring another reign is needed. The 40-year-old responded, revealing that he's fighting for the opportunity and all he needs is a chance. The current United States Champion is LA Knight, who has never faced The Lone Wolf.

"I agree!! Just need the opportunity!! I'm fighting like hell for it . Let's go!" Baron Corbin wrote.

The Modern Day Wrestling God is currently teaming with Apollo Crews on SmackDown. He has not challenged a United States Champion since losing the strap.

Corbin's last singles title match was a loss to Speed Champion Andrade in July. Before that, his last main roster televised singles shot came in summer 2019 while feuding with then-Universal Champion Seth Rollins.

Baron Corbin claims WWE dark match crown

Baron Corbin has worked mostly as a singles talent throughout his WWE career, but he's had notable tag team partners like Bron Breakker and Riddick Moss. The former NFL player is currently teaming with Apollo Crews on SmackDown.

Corbin and Crews had their last televised match on August 16, which was a SmackDown loss to Los Garza. The 40-year-old then worked three dark matches in September and October so far: tag team wins over The O.C. and Los Garza and a singles win over Karl Anderson.

The dark match win over Los Garza took place last Friday in Nashville, TN. Corbin took to Instagram to share a photo from the bout while declaring himself WWE's dark match hero.

"Dark match hero!! Undefeated in dark matches! Thank you Nashville!!" Baron Corbin wrote with the photo below.

Despite recent dark match wins, Corbin is not undefeated in the pre-and-post-show bouts. Happy Corbin lost a SmackDown dark match to AJ Styles on July 29, 2022, and two months prior, he was defeated by Bobby Lashley in the show-closer. He has around forty dark losses since 2014, including a dozen against Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, and Seth Rollins in 2019-2020.
