Alberto Del Rio says former WWE rival's comment made him cry (Exclusive)

Alberto Del Rio won four world titles during his two spells with WWE between 2009 and 2016. In an exclusive interview, the Mexican revealed how a remark from Nic Nemeth earlier this year made him cry.

Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler, recently faced Del Rio in AAA and WWC after previously feuding with him in WWE in the early-to-mid 2010s. In January, Nemeth told Sportskeeda Wrestling that his former opponent is as good as an actor in a movie when it comes to in-ring performances.

Speaking in a new interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Riju Dasgupta, Del Rio recalled how he became emotional after hearing Nemeth's comment:

"Before we saw each other again I saw an interview. You sent me the interview, I think, and I remember Dolph Ziggler saying so many fantastic things about me and the way I work and everything that he made me cry. I was driving to somewhere and I was a little bit watching because I was driving, but more listening and he made me cry." [10:03 – 10:27]

Alberto Del Rio addresses "animosity" with Nic Nemeth

In 2023, Alberto Del Rio said in a separate Sportskeeda Wrestling interview that he and Nic Nemeth "didn't like each other" earlier in their WWE careers.

Del Rio clarified that he did not have any issues behind the scenes with Nemeth, but they did not hang out with one another:

"The way Dolph or Nic describes this, there was no animosity [laughs], at least not from me. But, you know, after thinking about it, there was not real animosity. We were just different. I have my friends, he had his friends. We never really mingled when we were in WWE, but now it's completely different." [10:29 – 10:54]

On August 17, Del Rio defeated Nemeth to win the AAA Mega Championship. The former WWE Champion will attempt to capture another major title this weekend at World Wrestling Council (WWC) event Black September.
