WWE Superstar Baron Corbin has undergone several character transformations throughout his career. One of his most notable storylines involved Hall of Famer JBL. However, they didn't find much success together. Recently, the former World Champion said he felt responsible for the angle failing to capture fans' attention.

In late 2022, WWE saw the birth of a surprising alliance between John Bradshaw Layfield and The Lone Wolf. JBL, known for his villainous personality and strategic mind, was appointed to help the 40-year-old star gain momentum. While their partnership initially seemed promising, it ultimately dissolved in February 2023.

During an appearance on the Huge Pop show, the 57-year-old legend expressed regret over the unsuccessful storyline he had with Baron Corbin. JBL admitted that he was unaware of the long-term plans for the program and that he ultimately felt responsible for its failure.

"I don't know what happened, and I don't know what the plan was. They never told me (...) I remember coming into Oklahoma one time, and me cutting a promo on Oklahoma, that's pretty easy being from Texas. I cut promos every day just for fun on Oklahoma. After that, they said, 'Next week.' 'What's next week?' Then they started bringing me back. I never really knew if it was a long-term plan or what was planned. It didn't work," Layfield said.

The former WWE World Champion praised The Lone Wolf's talent and toughness but acknowledged that his own performance was unsatisfactory.

"If it didn't, blame me. I'm the veteran. Baron is a good, talented guy. Very tough guy. Very smart guy. I like Baron. If it didn't work, blame me. I'm the one that obviously dropped the ball," Layfield added. (H/T: Fightful)

JBL doesn't want to work with Sami Zayn in a specific WWE role

During the same interaction on the Huge Pop show, John Bradshaw Layfield spoke about taking up the role of an agent.

The WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he declined an offer to return as an agent, citing his previous experience with Sami Zayn. The former Intercontinental Champion expressed his admiration for Zayn's character work and preference for a more hands-on approach to wrestling, emphasizing the importance of knowing the match's finish beforehand.

"I don't think so (...) I've told Sami Zayn this, so it's not a secret. I was Sami Zayn's agent one time and after that, I quit. I love Sami. He's one of the best characters I've ever seen. I love Sami. I was a guy who said, 'How long [do] you need? 12 minutes. Okay. What's the finish?' That's all I needed," he said.
