WWE SmackDown before Money in the Bank had a few surprises in store for the fans. A 36-year-old champion broke his silence after picking up a huge victory on Friday night. This was Johnny Gargano.

The stakes were high on Friday as many superstars prepared for the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event scheduled for Saturday. The fans in Toronto were excited to see their favorite superstars put on some incredible matches and segments during the show.

The main event of the night saw #DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano challenge A-Town Down Under’s Austin Theory and Grayson Waller for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Gargano made Waller tap out on SmackDown to win the first main roster titles for the duo.

Following the big win, Johnny Wrestling took to X/Twitter to post a message of appreciation for his fans while celebrating his win.

"For those of you who have believed in us from day one.. Guys. We did it. We're the @WWE Tag Team Champions! #DIY," Johnny Gargano wrote.

Check out his post on X below:

The creative team has been planting the seeds for an A-Town Down Under breakup for several weeks. The match on Friday further accelerated what will be one of the biggest break-ups on SmackDown in 2024.

#DIY have won big in Toronto before tonight's SmackDown

The WWE Tag Team Championship win for Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa was arguably the biggest win of their careers. However, it’s not the first time that the two men have won big in Toronto.

Back in 2016, the company hosted WWE NXT TakeOver: Toronto where Gargano and Ciampa challenged The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Titles in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. The incredible contest saw #DIY come out on top for their first tag team title win in the company.

This will hopefully mark a new beginning for the two men who many fear haven’t won enough on the main roster yet. They are easily among the most talented superstars in the ring in the Stamford-based promotion.
